Yeah I know where you're coming from, I had to have a friend help me cuz I'd never touched an engine before I bought the GP. The hardest part is cutting into the fender.

Thats kinda why I wanted one of the ones from ebay.

If it was gonna give me ALMOST as good performance and ALMOST as good sound, I could buy one, and then when I get more experience (or get someone to help me) I could go with the FWI

If you really don't think you can do an FWI, just go open cone.
An ebay intake is pretty much 100% useles andwont really give you the sound you want at all. An open cone gives almost as good of gains as an FWI, and sounds pretty sick.

Open cone for sure if you can't do FWI.

Open cone is the closest you'll get performance AND sound wise to an FWI. I'll find you a pic. It's pretty much just a cone filter straight off the throttle body.

Haha yes, that would probably be easiest, and it'd be something to show off to my friends

Exactly. Performance, looks, sound, and the easiest install ever.
I can't find a pic but if you PM bio248 he'll send you one.

    Something like this?
    http://www.wardlink.com/images/grandprixs/gtp4.JPG

and would I just have to buy a filter, take out the airbox and stick the filter on? If so, what size filter?

Yeah kind of, except you don't need that bend or that big of a filter.
You literally just rip everything out and run the filter straight off the TB.
Ask bio for a pic, he's obsessed with open cones , he'll be happy to send you one.
Also, as far as the IAT sensor goes, you just ziptie that next to the filter.

Open cone wont be the best thing for him starting off modding...an open cone doesn't come in handy until you are running lots of boost IMO...but it looks like this.

I know an FWI would be better but he doesn't want to do that, so open cone is his best option from there.

Maybe...but for the most part it isn't the best option as one of his first mods...closet to the fender the better. Not saying it isn't going make an improvement but it isn't going be as good as he thinks.
