If you had cut open and examined as many Fram filters as I have, you'd dislike them too.

Well yeah, But i like to see if there are any particles in there. Or dirt or anything like that...There not expensive...20-30 bucks i think.
WOW good to see that someone has finally joined my ranks on engine destruction! Scotty can attest to this one. Unfortunatly i've done it twice. Damn vacuum line anyway.
If you can find a pipe cutter big enough that will go around the filter, you can use something like that, but I bought a purpose built oil filter cutter/opener. It works fabulously and gives me yet another diagnostic tool when I work on customers cars or change oil for them, etc.
Ive cut open a few hundred filters over the years and I am just amazed at the poor quality in some of them. I mean, its down right scary, and to think most people just slap them on there with little consideration.

I've had worse. Thats just a scratch!
