So I was driving along and I notice my temp gauge shoot up out of nowhere. So I pulled over and there is coolant leaking and a strong odor of burning coolant. In the picture you can see (hopefully) a hole that shouldn't be there. What in the world would cause this?

Would a broken coolant elbow cause the service brake system light to appear?

Spend the extra couple bucks and get the aluminum, not the plastic, elbows.

engine overheating puts the pcm into a save the day mode, changing shift points, alternator turn on, fans etc. so yes it could be a byproduct especially if the pcm killed the alternator field and charging voltage dropped the abs/trac/etc would be shutdown.

it could be independently triggered from a brake system fault, but so many things are interconnected on these nowadays id suggest fixing the coolant elbows and retesting

I replaced the coolant elbows and added coolant, now the car won't start. My battery is brand new and all the electrical comes on inside. Needs a jump? Alternator?

did you strip the terminal threads when you connected the battery ? i'm assuming you disconnected the battery when you move the alternator out of the way.

Battery was disconnected but threads look good. Whats weird is I just filled it with fuel too and now its say its empty, can it be that simple? The fuel didn't leak out anywhere. Usually even with no fuel the car will crank. Fuel pump? Maybe pass lock? Blown fuse?

I can't find anything not hooked up. I am really baffled as to what it is.
