you can see signs of it with a scanner. if the map pressure goes up and the maf hz goes down, then valve float could be happening. or is it vice versa?

That valve has to be broken, to allow the retainers to slip off the groves and loosen the spring.

    Replace the valve for sure.

look closer, the valve seal is holding the retainer up and the locks in, that stem is a 1/2 longer some how. like its cracked inside the guide.

Yeah I think if he would have taken the rocker all the way off, it would have been obvious. That or flipped the head over. I'm just baffled, because it seems like he has seen the valve in place inside the cc. So I keep trying to guess wtf is going on. Maybe the valve broke and simultaneously jammed into the seat locking it in, so it looks like it's still intact. Lol, suspense is killing me.

Horrible looking valve seals. And how did you manage to break a valve ? 2nd , how did you manage to break a valve and NOT notice ? Geez man that sucks. I feel bad for ya - hope there isn't any damge
Putting new seals on , I like to use a deep 10mm socket and tap down the seals until they seat.

I would check the rear head as well

edit - I just re read your post. You already pulled the head and the valve hasn't fallen out yet? Now I'm confused

You went to the Tyler school of breaking stuff ...didn't you?

Something is very wrong there, and it's not the spring.

spring looks fine, that valve is a 1/2 inch taller then the ones next to it.

that other head you have maybe a good idea to use.

you could re use em, but new seals are cheap and easy to do, ( and im guessing your swapping the springs from one head to the other, so your there already) make sure the post you slide them onto its dry and clean. you should have to push rather hard, or use a 10 mm deep socket and tap them on. no idea how yours came off. un less they were really wet with oil maybe when installed.

i used felpro seals 2 times now. both times i had to tap em on.

1st pic. The spring that's not compressed shows threads and the rocker isn't tight against the plate. Rocker bolt looks loose?

2nd pic. The spring that is compressed looks like that bolt head isn't tight in the rocker either.

Were either rockers tightened? Both look loose and the one is just compressed a bit from where the pushrod is.
How I treat my car: wreck, fix, repeat.
