I'd run it

You guys that would run it just want to see the next thread he posts that says he spun a bearing and his oil is full of flakes of metal, what happened.
Jeff
your right pan full metal from a spun bearing much more likely than having issues with the cam. lol hit it with some emery like ive mentioned 30 times and stop being a puss.
if something else doesnt fail first ill bet the car is demodded like every other wbody on the planet or its rusted to the point of being headed to the jy.
point is you could what if and maybe that until your blue in the face!
"But what if he would have shot you in the face!" "Welp thats a risk we were willing to take" LMFAO.
not running this is like saying no one ever runs a jy engine or transmission.... riiiiiiiiight haha.
cmon the cost vs risk is worth the reward.
dont be a puss.

98Vet Are you ready to pay up yet?
Jeff
Yeah, don't be a puss! Real men put **** parts in their car when they don't have to because premature engine failure is not unlike premature ejaculation, fun for 10 seconds and then you have a disappointed spouse and a big mess to clean up.
btw it's a 180k mile L36 block with a top swap I'm putting this in. If it goes, it goes.
This thread is dumb.
You all can run that crap ass cam if you want, but without having the lobe cleaned or machined a million ways from sunday...no thanks.
Then I guess I don't see the point of this thread. Unless you just needed at least one person to say DO IT to make you feel better. Guess you got that.
BTW, let me know when you take it to the track. I'll meet you there and capture the carnageWhich track you go to? I used to go to 42 when I lived up in Mansfield. Haven't been anywhere down here yet but want to soon.
You've never heard of National Trails? Aren't you in Pickerington? That's like 10 minutes from you. Their prep sucks but it's a track at least.
The point of the thread was just to gauge peoples thoughts on if they should run it or not. I haven't ran an aftermarket cam in a car since my Lumina ('06) and haven't really played too much with them since.
F' it. I'll just Leroy Jenkins the cam/motor. At least I'll have chicken.![]()
lol pay up for what? are you drunk? OP says engine has 180k on it and its not a daily driver....... please someone give me a decent reason not to run it AFTER smoothing it out with some emery...... hell if the OP doesnt half ass it i bet those are shallow enough to make them disappear....... OP said they barely catch a finger nail now anyways lol......
if your scared to run this cam then please by all means never use a single jy part ever in your in your entire life or even reman parts because they might fail hell maybe you should just walk because any vehicle can break.....
and yeah with that 180k engine id be damn suprised if it doesnt need a fist full of gaskets and other things anyways but like bio said these are all throw away engines cheap disposable so how is the cam any different run it until something fails..... my money is on something elze failing before the cam anyways.*cough* *cough* spun bearing metal in the pan lol.
btw OP if you do puss out and decide not to run the cam,ill give you 20 bucks and shipping for it and emery cloth it myself lol.....
edit: id bet this cam is less likely to fail or cause problems than someone putting a damn a2w intercooler on one of these turds lmfao!
ohh and since the engine has 180k please tell me how many miles are on the trans so i can further back up my assumption something else would fail before the cam.....
buncha pansies run it.

Not before I get my $20 you owe me for all cylinders being 180 psi or better......
A good reason not to run the cam and use emery cloth on it is that they are typically surface hardened and smoothing it out enough to get rid of what you are seeing is only going to thin the hardened surface, which will end up causing it to wear quickly on that lobe.
You know what I don't even want the money, I want you to give me the respect of someone that was building small engines and repairing things around the house when you were in diapers.
Jeff
proof all 6 were identical...... (seems that, thread was last updated 2 weeks ago hmm figure people would forget? what ever happened for the love of god did you pull the heads please update me youve got 2 weeks worth of catching up to do!)
i knew i recognized your name lol your the nerd that had the "why does my car make 0 boost"thread that went 6 pages deep..
http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...st-Taking-bets
this thread look familiar to any one? lmfao your credibility goes to zero maybe even nevative......
LOL OP of this thread please feel free to review the last 6 pages on the above thread... at least i bet if you run that cam it wont have problems making boost lmfao geezus J57ltr cmon man come back when you grow some brains....
edit: congrats you can build small engines was that a lego engine? too bad you cant figure out a 3800 v6 issue
http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...r-is-the-Devil!!!!!
All the pics are there and a video to boot, so suck it.
Wow. Awesome. So first. I already installed the cam before i even posted this.
Second. The trans has zero miles on it. It was just rebuilt. That wont be an issue.
Then the motor. Ive owned it since 90k and ive already replaced all the gaskets on the motor. Dont worry about the car, motor, or trans. Ive already taken care of that. The thread was simple. Run the cam or not. I know its hard to tell by the pic but its fairly smooth. I just wanted other peoples opinions.
This is going to be my "budget race car" even though there no such thing. I was going for 12s for a grand but im up to about 1100 or so now so may e 12s for 1200?. Im planning on trying to shave 5-600 lbs out of it. We'll see. Its a project POS.
My wife owned the car and then my son. He tanked 2 trannies and i told him to buy another car. So why not?
But anyways, thanks for the input everyone.
suprised about the fresh trans and fresh gaskets forsure...
interested to see the car run and hope it hits the track!
12s should be pretty doable with xp cam fresh trans some good tires and a sawzall diet for the car!
This thread should be stickied😎
