Saying any Marine is a serial killer while taking lives under the rules of engagement in an active WAR zone is beneath response as its so infantile mental midget moronic!
Saying this film was only about Patriotism or propaganda is ridiculous and was set about by the sheep crying about the sheepdog getting bone! By those wishing to discredit WAR and chose this as a jump off platform. Just like those idiots in the 70's throwing dung at service men, calling them baby killers, etc., definitely misplaced anger... dont see these idiots (now) marching on Washington in Anti-War protests... and difference then was a DRAFT! These guys now have all been Volunteer... Contemplate that for just a moment.
But hose timid souls who decry the very nature which created this country, protects it and nurtures its foundation, 200+ years running now. Might not last forever, but it sure is appropriate to appreciate it while its here.
Patriotic!?!? YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT!!!
But I didn't get rah, rah flag waving out of it, maybe its just me. I got a deep inward look to the human condition, about the Rich Mans War, but Poor Man's fight, how a next door neighbor, sent off to war, has their demons too. How it affects their being, their life, their family. So maybe yeah, a bit Patirotic after all. About the Devine comedy played before us all... And the evil that exists just in MAN... But to all these Hollywood Koolaid drinkers...
F-em all... That's what I gotta say!
and really, who gives a shyt about what CRITICS think... Rotten tomatoes, lmao, yeah ok. Proof is in the pudding, movie is still drawing in $millions, #1 in Japan. A country for all its issues, understands the Warrior's Creed and condition.
Good Day!
Honestly I took a similar thing away from the movie.
I mean the movie was not a direct adaptation of the book, rather it took someone who by all standards (mine at least) is an American Bad Ass, and shows how much war takes from everyman. Even those that dont die overseas leave a little over there. Thats what I took from this. He gave so much to defend this country (I say this country, NOT because we were directly under attack, but rather because the enemy hates our way of life and it is our solders over there preventing them from mounting a full sized assault on US soil) and after he finally felt like he had given enough, it was all ripped away from him untimely.
People wanna judge him based on the claims he has made that they feel are lies...
To me it is not the 160+ confirmed kills that made him a hero. Or the 3 Bronze Stars. Or the 2 silver stars. Or the 2 Purple Hearts.
No.
What makes him a hero to me, what really resounds to me at a very deep level, is in fact the way those who served with him felt about him. THEY were in fact the ones that nicknamed him Legend. THEY were the ones that have stated SEVERAL times in interviews that, " I felt better doing my sweeps knowing Legend was on overwatch". IT was the SHEER NUMBER of Seal Pins on his coffin at his funeral. If I knew NOTHING else about the man, THAT would be enough for me to consider him a Hero. Because it was these other men that stood on deaths door with him. That Dared to scream into the face of Satan himself. They went through hell and came out the other side... And THAT is what they thought of him.
They just convicted the ****er that killed him. Life in prison. No parole. Good
The dementia must really be strong because you unbolted the last three bolts on the trans pan.
When someone says "hang on a second" you don't keep taking bolts out.
Maybe I should have said it louder.
Just read this whole thread. Haven't and won't see the movie, anytime soon. What it brought to mind was the facial expression I saw in a documentary the other day... on the B-29 Bockscar's bombarbier as he briefly recounted the Nagasaki mission. He was trying to sound proud for the camera and it made me realize what lasting damage war does to the surviving warriors. I don't believe any of them are heroes in their own minds, but they certainly are to us citizens.
I just...![]()
Kyle - dog of the military
Snowden - American Hero, sacrificing his life to preserve our freedom.
Snow if its so bad here, and you hate the military and the government. Leave. No one is forcing you to stay in this " corporate-military complex that serves to enslave you."
