She is a very loud complainer. Lol she would have been calling me all night long knowing her.
But the car got towed to my house so I'm going to start looking over the car and seeing if there is a bad connection to the starter or a short somewhere.....I hate wiring so much
Oh and my Camaro just kind of died in the middle of the road while I was driving home so I'm going to try and fix her car first so that I can get my intrepid back because it gets better fuel economy than the v8 car. Right now thinking it overheated and shut off ( temp gauge broke a month ago) so looks like I'm probably going to start with intake gaskets in it to begin with
Got the car back to my house and started with some testing. I pulled the little cover off the starter and had my mom turn the key while I was under it watching it. What I noticed is that the starter is just ramming itself into the side of the flexplate. Do these things need to be shimmer or do I just need to loosen it up and move it around a bit?
if your talking the one thats been in the car, no. its set already. so the gear pops out, but it dont turn??? just hits the flex and pulls back in?
id say its time for a new starter.
This is the new starter. It started the car for me when I first put it in so I gave the keys to my sister she went and started it and actually went for a drive and then it wouldn't start again.
But this new starter just hits the flex and pulls back. I have tried loosening it and wiggling it to see if I could fix it but to no avail
check the starter pos cable to the battery and to the starter, maybe its loose.
the little wire tells the gear to pop out, thats your signal from the key @ start.
the fat wire is the power to turn the starter motor. ground gables too, double check em on the tranny. if you dont hear the starter spinning, and you should its not getting power.
always a chance the new starter is defective.
if need be drop it out, bench test it.
Alright I rearranged the wiring on the power stud (I had the big power wire sitting on the outside I stead of sitting on the inside in the little slot) and I just hooked my gtp up to it to jump it and so far it sounds like it's just hitting the flexplate again but I'll let it sit for a while and gain some charge and see what happens
I got back under the car and saw all the cables going to the starter were super corroded so I wire brushed all of them and then added a washer to it. Then threw the starter back on and wala car runs. Took it on a drive and hit some bumps and pulled it back in the driveway and turned it off and on again and it still runs. Time will tell if it stops working again but we will see.
