I am about to put aftermarket speakers in the rear deck of my Grand Prix...but the front has original stock Bose speakers.
Will this work even though I have stock upfront and I will be having aftermarket in the rears ?

Any input would be great !!

    Thanks !

So what would you suggest I do ??
I have one rear that blown and one that's good.
And I have perfect sounding 5 1/4 front door bose speakers.
And I know I can't just disconnect the amp...it powers the whole speaker system.

I would go aftermarket at this time. Buy a nice set of components for the front...Boston Acoustic, Infinity...whatever your preference (I run Massive Audio)...get a cheap amp....screw the rear speakers...they're only filler and not necessary.

A nice set of front components and a sub in the trunk are worth their weight in gold for audio quality.

So I don't need rear deck speakers ?? I thought rear speakers made the system.
Don't you have rear in your GP ??
Wont it sound crappy if I only have front speakers ??

That's really all I have now is one operating in the rear.

No, it sounds fine. Think of being at a concert....where's the band? In front of you. I basically turned my rear speakers off in my car...well, took away some rear volume and then put them on a 25ms delay. Made it seem like I was in a concert hall. I loved it.

But, the front is where your "stage" should be. That's where you focus your attention.

I'm new to all this car stereo stuff.
So do the sub and amp have to be the same brand as the speakers ??
And how would I wire the sub and amp to the front speakers ?

I haven't done car audio stuff in quite some time.

    No they dont.
Run wires under the seat and carpet then into the front doors. And I would get a separate amp for the sub/s and speakers.

Yes...run wires from the amp under the carpet to the front doors...it can be a pain to get through the rubber boots, but it's well worth it when it's all said and done.

Open one of your doors, you see that little rubber boot? Run the wires through that into the door then to the speakers.

You can get whatever you want for speakers amp sub. Brands don't have to match unless you're super anal like I am.

Check online for the best deals. I absolutely LOVE my Massive Audio components (they're discontinued Massive Audio CK5 Stage III) and they aren't that expensive. For subs, it all depends what kind of music you listen to as to what kind of box you want. And there's tons of amp choices that you can look at too. Sonicelectronix.com is where I tend to go. Prices are decent and great customer service.
