hard to tell from the pics. is the bumper there?

id get that put back if it is missing, then try to copy the pic 321fun posted. as it looks to be the same cooler.

a little massaging could go a long way.

The square tube in this pic is the only thing running across the front of the car and the IC is bolted to it.

That is a lot of clamps!! Which means you could redo that cold side piping and fix your rubbing issues. And yup, the wastegate is vented straight to atmosphere hence the noise at shifts. You can reroute that back into the exhaust to quiet that up if you wanted.

I'd really like to tear the car apart and fix it properly, but, it's supposed to be a budget ride for my son.....DANGIT!

i think everyone who has owned this car was over their heads pretty much. low on funds or know how.

look at it this way, the car was worth 2 grand on its own, the turbo is worth 2 grand easy if its all working right. so if you have to dump a few hundred into it to make it right, its all worth it.

or if you just wanted to make life easy on your self, go pick up them parts from the last owner, take the turbo off, sell it. put the blower back on. buy some headers and your all set.

turbo is fun for sure but it beats on the tranny a bit more. and being its set to 7 psi, the blower would be faster maybe.

blower whine sounds cool too. lol

Yea, the blower whine is cool.

I'm going to take a hard look at it over the holiday and figure out if I can remove all of the piping that's routed beside the exhaust.

I'd like to get rid of the rattle If I can. Why does to need to be such a long run?

Then, I'm checking compression. The car engine has a miss that's annoying me. Other than replacing the plugs and wires, what else do I need to do to give it a "tune up?" Already replaced the air cleaner and gave it an oil change.

swap a plug wire with the plug next to it, see if the mis moves. you can also take the coil pack for 6/3 and swap it around with the one next to it, to see if the mis moves as well.

this is your plug and wire firing order so you make sure it all gets back to where it belongs. some coils have the cylinder marked on them. you can still swap it around. but the #'s are wrong now.

Dang man, that picture is exactly what I need! THANK YOU. I will swap a plug wire and take a ride before I buy any new stuff.

That's why I love forums like these. I will learn stuff I'll never forget.

    Thanks for the thought anyway..........

I can't wait to get going on this car. I already changed the axles, brakes, and struts.......might as well make it a good running ride as well.

My son thinks it's a great car as well, but the RUST worries me, and, it's got A LOT!

these cars seem to like to rust away. rockers, the rear strut towers go bad too. the good news is its all fix able if your doing the work yourself. paying a shop to do it, well you should set it on fire first, it will cost more then the car did for sure. or what its worth.

a few members did their own rockers. like driveway style. and a few others worked at shops and did a real pros job.

Scored the bumper and spare tire at the salvage yard for 60 bucks. I have no clue if they're gonna fit with the IC in there.......

I'm also wondering where I'm going to move the IC .............LETS GO! Grand Prix Gurus............

    nice find.

in that one pic posted it looks like they cut some foam out and it fit, then some mounting tabs bolted/welded to the bumper to hold it.

Thanks, Ill try to get the cover off later and show how it's mounted. There's no foam there. I was trying to figure out why the bumper cover
was so sloppy. Now I know why.

BTW, I have NO experience with the IC. I'm assuming it's filled with coolant and I'm going to make a mess when I disconnect it.
