Ok I mostly agree. Get an o2 extensison. However BEFORE you install the headers (like the day before) get a state inspection!. then intstall your headers as is and see after a month if there is a leak in the flex. Mine never leaked. if it does leak though they might fail you on your next inspection. This gives you plenty of time to fix something that only matters to the government (exhaust leaks wont hurt your car btw).

sorry if im babying this up to much im just thinking back to when i was just coming around cars for the first time

This is the SD I'm looking at. It looks like it has a flex pipe...?

Thanks, it's really helpful actually. I just need to decide if I want to attempt header installation or pay 200.

if your not going to do the work yourself take it to a muffler shop. they will probably charge you $250-$300 to install the headers and another $70-100 to intsall the cat. so your looking at $600 to put headers on which is not worth it. i wouldnt mod this car if your not going to do it yourself. ITS JUST NOT WORTH IT. 13's for close to $2500 worth of labor total? Even worse when it breaks, you wont know how to fix it. not trying to be harsh, i just want to warn you

200 isnt bad at all. installing them yourself is a good learning experience but i can understand if you just wanted to have it done and not deal with it. oh and dont use the gaskets or clamps you get with those headers reuse the stock gaskets and get differnt clamps for the crossover

find friends that know about bolt ons. the more you know, the less you will spend. Get in a car group. seriously. DONT mod if you cant fix the aftermath

I'm modding it for sure. I'm on the fence about headers. I think I might just stick with simple ZZP downpipe with catback and install my self then ScanGauge, spark plugs, tune, then maybe drop a 3.5 pulley.

    THIS! thank you matt!
like he said reuse stock gaskets except for the header to catback gasket. Get a new one.
Also get band clamps to install them. if you search the forum under sd headers you will find the sizes. (i forget)

You just said it was a stupid idea to pay $200 to have headers installed and clearly I don't have the knowledge to install them myself.
