THE HEARTLAND DRAG RACERS ASSOCIATION HAS ANNOUNCED "RACE AWAY HUNGER 2009" TO BENEFIT NORTHERN ILLINOIS FOOD BANK
With a lingering down economy and an ever increasing unemployment rate, Illinois has experienced an unprecedented rise in the number of families who are turning to food banks and pantries to make ends meet. As more and more families struggle to pay for surging costs of energy and other essentials, money left over at the end of the week for food is scarce.
The Heartland Drag Racers Association and Exclusive Radio Sponsor 104.9 WXRX is teaming up and doing their part this September, during Hunger Action Month with "Race Away Hunger" a charity drag racing event that will be held on Sept. 20, 2009 at Byron Dragway, in Byron IL. Spectator admission is $10, racer admission is based on class entered. Information and details regarding entry fees and payouts can be found at Heartland Drag Racers Association "Race Away Hunger" 2009 in the upcoming weeks as sponsors and media partners are secured. About HDRA
The Heartland Drag Racers Association launched in March 2009. The organization was founded and is organized by racers, with racers and community in mind. The main goal of HDRA is to create a organization that not only gives the budget minded racer a place to race and have fun with great competition without breaking the bank, but also an organization that can give back to the community through charity and promotional events the benefit the families in the region.

Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) is a non-profit organization that provides food to all those in need

Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Will and Winnebago. NIFB acquires, gathers,
