When unloading a board from the inside of my grand prix I ended up poking the end of it into the door courtesy lens on the inside door panel and broke the (red) lens.

I just now got around to ordering a replacement online and it arrives today.

MY question though perhaps silly is... is there an actually bulb behind the lens or is it just a lens cover for reflecting light, like a reflector on a bicycle?

Also do I have to take off the door panel to mount the new lens?

    Thanks
    Terry

My 2000 GTP had a bulb in there because it was half white and half red. Would come on with the door being opened.

If the whole thing is just red like that ones on our 2002 GT, there is no bulb. They install from the outside, they just pop/push into place.

On sedans, the rears are just reflectors, and fronts are lighted.Coupes are both lighted.

Mine is a 2001 GTP coupe, the red lens just pops in place, no bulb, took me 10 seconds to change out once I got the part in the mail.

    Thanks

Simple answer is GM stopped most door lights for 2000.

You can add the wiring and bulb back in because typically that is all that was missing.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Yes. You might get lucky, but I broke a tab when I tried to pry it out.

Here is what they look like from behind.....
