I am wondering what kind of pulley puller I can use to get off my stock 3.8" supercharger pulley? I think it's kind of ridiculous to spend $200 on a pulley drop =/ it's like $90ish for the puller from ZZP and then about $100ish for the MPS from ZZP. Just wondering if there is any cheaper/other safe alternatives?

Oh damn, I'm all the way by detroit, 3.5 hrs. Your best bet would be someone in Grand Rapids area, or even swing by zzp and do it there.

I'll have to look online where the nearest ZZP is. I can't say I want to pay the $85 or whatever for the puller tool that I'm only going to use once to pull off the stock pulley and once to put the MPS on =/
I was kinda wondering where/if there was a place that rents the puller tool

woah, there's only one zzp and it's located in/near grand Rapids lol. Do you have headers or any flow mods even done to the car? Also, you can rent it from zzp, but you have to pay core charge.

I have a 1999gtp. I have to replace the head gasket and then put the top back together and then measure for knock before I do a pulley drop =P
Before the head gasket went I was seeing 0° of knock and then every once in a while see a spike up to 5.8ish for less than a second. Usually it was around .6 seconds. So I feel its safe to drop to a 3.6 or even possibly a 3.5" pulley safely and obviously measure for knock again. I've replaced the downpipe, not headers though. Was told if theres no knock, a downpipe can get you away with a 3.6" or possibly even a 3.5" pulley. Since I've been seeing 0° with a stock tune and stock engine with a ZZP downpipe, I think I could tune it and run a 3.5" =P

A spike of 5.8* for less than a second, especially on a stock tune, is indicative of false knock. Check to make sure there's no metal-on-metal contact, such as the sway bar hitting the downpipe, headers hitting the transmission dipstick, knock sensors going bad, etc.

Get yourself an open cone intake as well and then you should be ok in the 3.5 range. Get a tune, bar none... a good tune is the best mod in my opinion.

Alright, next time I get home I'll look at it to see if anything could be causing false knock. I want to say the spike happens around a shift point, but like I said, it isn't at every shift or anything, just randomly here and there. But yes, I'll check to see if anything is bumping or rubbing causing false knock. I plan on getting an overkill tune when I get the money set aside and get the car running good. I have an open cone that I took from my '02 SE

One more question. When dropping to a 3.4" pulley, which belt size do I need? I'm thinking it's 653? But I want to make sure.

653 will work, though it'll be tight. 658 will also work and make it a little easier to get on. (I ran a 658 for ages without any slip)

Don't no if you still think you need head gaskets but 3800 don't have head gasket issues.

3800 have lower intake gasket(black plastic) which leak coolant. Sometimes into the oil sometimes into the intake. Again stock 3800's don't need gasket. They will make 200,000 miles.

I do still think I have a head gasket issue. My car is at 194,000, also I replaced the LIM and tested it and was building 120 - 125psi in cylinders 1 & 5 but was reading 0psi in 3. Waiting on a little camera to come in the mail and when I come home from college I'll look in all the cylinders

I'm sure I have a problem with cylinder 3, but I heard that even A blown piston should produce roughly 20psi which makes me believe I didn't have the tester sealed properly
