After a few 12.7 runs TooMch heard a thumping noise when he turned to returned to the pit area. Iron Indian daignosed the problem and then spent a lot of time securing the CV boot. It was hot dirty work that neither TooMch nor I had ever done. Once the job was complete, he rode around with Rick to make sure everything was fine and then offered to follow him back to the hotel in Branson.

Thanks Shawn. Was nice to have met you!

Edit: Farnsworth stopped by with a nice tip that helped Shawn get the boot into place easier. Thanks Jason.

Hoosier Drag radials (looked like slicks to me), spring blockers, back seat removed, not sure about his spare tire, but I assume it was out too. Keep in mind his car just came out of the shop the evening before he headed to Branson. He was going to make some adjustments to the shift points, but the CV boot ended his racing this time.

No problem! I'm just glad I could help out and get him back on the road to enjoy the rest of the party! Kudos to you Indeed for figuring out where to "borrow" the hose clamp from. Much better than zip ties IMO. Hope he made it back home alright.

Nice to have met you too, slick car and IC setup too! First time i've rode in an 04+ Impala SS. Your car was clean and smooth riding. Hope to hang w/ ya again!

BTW, Rick has ALOT more left in that car. He was telling me that he was only cutting 2.0 60 fts on those tires!!! He's got a solid mid 12 sec car with traction, and with more tuning even more (still working on shift points IIRC). He's not done with it yet...

Thanks for the compliments Shawn. btw your IC setup, may have been the nicest I've seen. The reservior is a nice touch, that I wished I could have done to mine.

Rick stopped by my house on his way home (2 miles away from my house) and he made it just fine, thanks to you.

I plan on being there next year, hope you will be as well.

My pleasure lending a helping hand/offing advise. Looked as though Shawn was pushing rope, and figured the strut at full extension making the CV shaft extend even more could be causing a headache with trying to get the boot back on.

Guess that helped for sure, and glad to hear you got it all fixed up, or at least a band aid till the final repair could be made.

Just glad we had tools, I left mine back in the hotel.

Thanks Brian. Sorry, I was only a support person in all of this, and may have missed some of the details. Without your jackstand, the Farnsworth trick could not have been applied.

Street Wolf - Shawn can thank you for the moral support, if he was feeling it in the time of need.

I always end up bringing a bunch of tools. You never know when you'll need them. This year, they came in very handy because I needed the jack and jack stands, Rick needed the stands. Also ended up needing my sockets and such. One thing I can't stand is not being prepared for the near worst.

Sorry for my tardy appearance in this thread. Before Lee told me about it I did not even realize this topic existed but it certainly fits.

What a pleasure it is to go to events with people like Shawn, Brian and Farnsworth, not to mention my friend Lee.

Shawn jumped in without hesitation and spent a long time trying to get the boot on just right. A lot of close times but just not making it right. Other help was offered, then a jack stand, then the idea to raise the rotor, then using the worm clamp from the air filter. Each one from a different member of our community. You can see from the picture what I was doing! I did manage to bring over refreshments too! Ha, feeble.

Anyway, many thanks to Shawn and to everyone else who helped.

We've got a great bunch of people.
