Has anyone else felt the effects of DHP breaking their own EULA contract by going out of business with no means of support or options of a buy-back and cannot get support for this expensive paper-weight? What would happen if we all brought forth a class action suit to recover monetary damages by not giving support of our purchases "for life as the orginal owner and user".

I'm all in ($300.00 is what I paid for mine). I can't find a stock image for my 2000GTP. But I haven't really been looking recently (just worn out from dead end after dead end). It's probably something I am doing. Just can't find anyone with the time to show me. Like I said. I haven't really applied myself recently.

Charles opened up the tuner for all models that were supported before he called it quits. You don't have to buy credits, you can get help/bin files on the powrtuner forum still and did I mention you don't have to buy credits? For $300 you can use the thing and tune 100 wbody's if you wanted and turn around a year later and sell it again for $300.

Where in the EULA does it say that the company will remain in business, offer support, and give a buy-back if they don't?

    Really?

lol...DHP has been out of business for years now. I'm sure like others have said you can get your money back out of it fairly easy.

This kind of logic is a major contributing factor into why this country is the way it is... seriously, you want to sue DHP?

As far as I'm concerned, they didn't.
I still own mine, and I don't plan on letting the "paperweight" go any time soon.

    They didn't.

    OP's just mad.

Should be just moved to the rant section really.

    Want a good comparo?

DHP sells you DHP Tuner, goes under...sorry...can't do anything for you anymore.

War on Terror takes tons of innocent lives...then it ends...no reason there really...can't do anything to bring those people back.

    Was I close?

I effin love my DHP - there is so much resources out there.. and alternative tools that work with the hardware.. BIN files galore if you do your research..

I just bought a 2004 and BAM! im already up and tuning it...

.. talking about suing.. why don't you post that for sale and let someone else have at it that is willing to put in the time.

From a purely monetary point of view, it's probably not a smart idea to a sue a corporation that no longer exists. Something tells me they're not rolling in business assets so maybe you sue and maybe you get a default judgement (because I can't believe they'd actually respond). Now you're on the hook for your legal fees and you're also responsible for enforcing the judgment you received which will be fruitless since the corporation no longer exists.

Yeah, this is an old post but just in case anyone else gets any ideas like this. You're throwing good money after bad.

I think the only thing I would've liked to see was the source code of the powrtuner software. If it was posted in the site, users could still keep doing changes and improvements to it.

if you dont like your DHP sell it and get your money back. the DHP filled a need the community needed and still needs. like said i dont see where it ever said that it was life time support even if they go out of business. yes it is sad they closed and there are no more updates, but come on Sue them? might as well sue GM cause they discontinued the 3800 engines! or sue them cause we cant get 1" chains for the tranys prob would get more support suing GM for engine fires related to fuel connector leaks!

Is it true you don't have to buy credits if you have one of these tuners? Just plug it in and tune away?

Yes that is true. the DHP originally limited you to a specific engine unless you purchased a shop version for like 4times the price. l36, l67, lq1 ect... when i purchased mine you had a choice of two engines to tune. i chose my DOHC LQ1 and L67 in case i ever did a swap. later they opened up the tuner so all the tuners were basically the shop version and could tune all engines they supported.

if you have a DHP then you do not have to buy credits to tune another car as it is not locked by vin. only limiting factor is no further development of the tuner and no other vehicle support.
