What would be a good price for a good used Autometer 5in monster tach w/ programmable shift light? I know the guy who has it, and its in really good shape, might need a new shift light cover ( it's kinda dirtty)other than that it looks great? What would be a good offer for it?

a tach is not just for a stick, all cars should have them, great indicator of how it's running

If its them model that they sell at Autozone, Advance Auto, etc, they're like 100 bucks new. If it's in good shape and what not, maybe 50-60 bucks. Try a little lower first, you might get lucky.
I like having my after market tach in my GP. It keeps everything at eye level and with the shift light, I don't have to keep looking down to keep from hitting the rev limiter. I can tell by the sound of my car, but I still like having it. To each, his own. Some will like it and some will give you crap for it.

The phantom series are very nice looking gauges. Ive been considering either the phantom or the American Platinum series for the cuda.

So you have two tach's in your car? What's the point there's one in the dash and if you program your car correctly you don't have to worry about hitting the limiter.

Same principle as a drag car. Everything is eye level, I don't have to look down and take my eyes off the road, and if your car is "programed correctly", there is still a RPM limit for the motor. You ask why I need 2 tachs? Why do people need 2 boost guages, oil pressure guages, temp guages, etc? Even though from the factory most of that is only a light, but it's still protection. But to each his own. I like it and if the next guy doesn't, OH Well, it don't hurt my feelings. To sum it all up, it keeps all my guages in my line of view.

the one in the dash has the accuracy of a watch from a vending machine, all stock gauges are more of a guess than anything else

Hey, thanks for the back up Arch. Basically what I was trying to say with a lot less words. I tend to go overboard when I start typing.

Yeah I lucked up on the 440 "six-pack", still deciding on which paint color to go with, but its a work in progress.
