Best buy I've seen in a while. Picked this up toady from Advance Auto Parts.

Monroe front strut mount with a lifetime replacement warranty and it was in stock.

    $28.98 + tax!

Any good How-to's for this out there?

I have them in my rears and they're great. I had Gabriel's in my front since they didn't have the Monroes in the front either. Both work great and I couldn't be happier.

Installed mine today, piece of cake with the right tools. Had to borrow some spring compressors, but other than that it went very smoothly.

It is kinda easy when you already have the springs compressed while on the car to lock on the compressors and then just top swap the mount and then unloosen the compressors and walla...........done!

    Excellent work sir

just wondering..could i take out my old struts (in one piece) and replace them with the KYB adjustable struts with eibach springs (already assembled, spring compressed..etc) in a driveway with a jack? or is it alot more involved?

if already assembled then sure, the only hard part is putting the new spring on, and that would be done out of the car

Many auto parts stores will let you borrower spring compressors. At least O'Rielly's does.

This is true, they will however charge your credit card $75 for a "holding fee" until you return the strut compressor.

The only thing I dont like about their compessor, which I have used, is that is a manual crank one, but most the auto part stores only carry that type of compressor. You can actually buy spring loaded one from Harbor Frieght for like $35 bucks if you really wanted to keep one around the house for future applications.

all of the spring compressors you can buy, are technically the dangerous type (there is nothing to secure the spring if it slips) I do my own at a local shop, but the only charge about $25 to compress the springs in a cage compressor (I have seen compressors fail, and the damage they can cause)

Well they do have spring compressors that do secure the spring. I have one that uses U-bolts (2 per compressor, so you have 4 of them holding the spring)to wrap around the spring and physically bolt it to the compressor so that there is virtually no chance of it slipping off.

That said, you are correct, that if you use one in which they can slip off it can be a very nasty situation indeed. Ive probably pulled springs a dozen or so times now and never had any concern about the spring coming loose with the compressor I have.

I looked online now and it is $32.00. Still a good deal. Maybe a dumb question, but is this just for the front? Do they sell the same type of thing for the back?

The spring compressors I borrowed from Oreileys where free to rent and just took a $75 deposit, fully refunded. Well worth it. Those things where super heavy duty, I don't see how they could have failed. I think they weighed about 20 pounds, which was just a bolt and the clamps.
