Jamaica was nice, nice to get away. Granted today totally sucked. Nothing like walking into the office, without any warning and hearing they are doing a "restructure", and I'm part of it... So today I join the ranks of the unemployed, first time in 30 years I don't have to get up for a job.

Dude, that sucks. I went through a job loss a year ago, finally got another great job, and 60 days in they tell us they are going south . Here I go again.

    Good luck to you BBB.

30 Years, pretty much the only fulltime job I've had since high school... Except for a 6 month stint doing consulting.

we can relate, my dad was recently laid off. he has almost 20 years experience as a professional civil engineer, he's graduating with his master's this semester. friday they gave him his 10 year award, monday they gave him a box. Good luck with finding work man, hopefully businesses will start feeling safer soon.

Wow, not sure how'd I handle that, an award one day and a packing box the next. I shot myself in the ass though with this. I had 18 years in back in 98', left to do consulting because is was a 15k increase, came back to the company 6 months later and the rate I was getting at consulting including 25 days vacation.

When they calculated the severance tax it was based on the time I was back (12 years), so received 12 weeks pay instead of what could of been 30, but figure in the end it was worth it.
