K&N is not THAT bad but you pay for the name when you can make your own? Maybe who your talking to is in school and cant afford to buy a 200$ intake. Quit being such a dousch bag

it doesn't matter that they can't afford it, it's still no good for the price. for 40 bucks, my intake is better than whatever K&N can come up with.

yes I have 4.5" fenderwall intake made from PVC and uses a S&B open top cone filter. Cost me like 60$ with paint and filter

Children.... don't make me turn this thread around...... An oil soaked filter can dirty up a MAF and screw with things = FACT Seen it first hand from other members of local car clubs. Oil need not be dripping off the filter. Is K&N a good CAI? I'll admit that there is lots of R&D done on it by the K&N people, and that's probably why they're so expensive. There are other intakes around that will cost you less and still have documentation of performance increases such as the Wizaird intake. As for the home made CAI or FWI, yes they improve performance and save you money. It all depends on what you're going for though. I personally wouldn't pay 150+ dollars more for a big name brand intake that has dyno proven results to say that maybe because of thousands of dollars in R&D and some pretty heat deflector to get me another 1 or 2 wheel horsepower over my home-made CAI or open cone. IF I were going to go pay for a CAI setup it would be the Wizaird.

Your N/A...so you'd want the biggest, non-bent, fenderwell you can make...IMO...get 4" pipe and set a filter right in the hole of the fender and run the 4" pipe to the TB. done.

I think the Fender wall intake probably gets the Coldest air available. You can make one yourself for maybe $20 bucks but it will be Tacky as crap. I just trashed mine tonight and installed my Wizaired cold air intake. It looks Great.

do not buy K&N CAI system. and Wizaired's CAI is expensive but it looks great in the engine bay.

A 3.8, that is the litres of your car a 3.8 litre V6 also known as the 3800 engine.

Do not buy that stuff off e-bay, it is only a filter and is pretty much a Hot Air Intake, will only hurt your performance over the stock air system.

Thanks alot for your help. Exactly what i was looking for. I think im just going to but a Spectre Cone filter and slap it on, i heard another member did that and had good results

but you didnt even remove the restrictive part of the intake, how is that better than stock at all?

Less restrictive filter..... not like your gonna gain any serious power from replacing the stock boot. The throttle body screen is there to straighten the air flowing into the TB.

I wonder if my old GTO intake would work. Big 4" pipe and not a K&N filter. I would have to agree with the oil. It can get in to your intake and cause problems. I have seen it happen. Be careful if you are going to oil your filters.
