Hello guys Im working on a 1994 buick regal with the 3800, Transmission operates fine if you ease into it but if you punch 50 percent or more throttal it it seams to jump into third or forth and stay there unless you manually shift it. transmission is newer 50k on it and has had a recent fluid change car has 230k miles on it any ideas what would be causing it not to downshift?
Iv been doing research all day and haven't found anything no check engine nothing just wont shift in auto any ideas would be appreciated.

I googled it. Looks like a 4T60. Definatley not the average problem you are having. How is the motor running? MAF/MAP and TPS play a big part in the shifting.

I have a '95 grand prix and my trans was doing the same exact thing. It has a 4T60-E trans but when I tore it apart and had it looked at it turned out that the trans was shot. The torque converter had a large amount of clutch material in it and the final drive gear was sheared. I am currently replacing the transmission. I bought a new one at a junkyard and then had it rebuilt. Hope this helps
