I have a 95 GTP with the DOHC motor. The problem first happened about 2 months ago, the car wouldn´t go into high gear and on the parkway it was about 3100 RPMS at 70. But it started to work again and I forgot about it. Until it happened this morning on the way home from work. The trans was working fine and then I noticed the rpms were 3100. I tried shifting into the lower gear and then shifting up again but that didn´t help. The trans shifts fine but just won´t go into high gear. Checked the trans fluid and the level was fine. Trans shifts nice into the other gears. The car has 70,000 miles on it and the trans was rebuilt just before I bought it. Any ideas. Could it be the linkage is out of adjustment. Sometimes I have a problem with that.

The trans has about 3000 miles on it.

Took it on the parkway just now and it worked fine, must be something electrical. What should I look for.

I would check the condition of the vacuum line on the front of the tranny.

Does that control all shifting or just the shift into 4th. All the others shift normally.

There are two soleniods that control shifting. For the first three gears to work properly, they both have to be working properly. the only thing that might hold fourth up from working is likely the shift cable position.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I have been having some trouble getting the key out, I would have to play with the shifter and it would come out. Also I notice the shifter may be in neutral and be in 4th gear. Maybe when the previous owner had the tranny done they didn´t adjust the linkage. What should I be checking for and how is it adjusted.

I know it has to be something like that because the fluid is not burnt, the car shifts great and yesterday I took it on the parkway and had no problems.
