    Hi,

Friend has a 96 GP w/ the 3.4 and 4T60E(90kmiles)...My question is: Does the trans need to be dropped to swap out shift solenoids? I have searched posts, looked in the chiltons manual, and no-one illustrates or tells if the trans needs to be dropped or just the brace, cv-axle and side plate have to be removed to swap out these solenoids..(the car stopped shifting (1st and reverse are ok...it spits a code P0756(shift solenoid B ckt performance or stuck off).
    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Bill M.

The trans does need to be dropped down to remove the side cover. This doesnt mean complete removal, but the cradle does need lowered to lower down the trans far enough to remove the side cover and some sort of engine support is required to hold the trans up while lowering down the cradle. Before you do all of this check all of the wiring and fuses to make sure you dont have an electrical problem.

    Thanks,

I also read that these trannys had problems with grounding for the shift solenoids in harness somewhere, chafing on the frame I would guess, I haven't looked yet?... I also think the trans fluid was low also.. I will do a little more looking at the harness and fuses to see if I see any chafing, opens, etc.

    Thanks,

    Bill M.
