Still wanting to know an answer to my original question. I see a bunch of guys here who have self tuned their cars. So how do you figure how and where to add/remove spark? Or add/subtract on maf table? Basically, how do you interpret the logs and decide which areas need improvement?
I see people talking about how much timing they are running at wot. Are you talking max timing, like the last row on the spark table? Are you bumping everything up proportionally? Or just certain areas? Is there a science to it, or just all trial and error? Lol, sorry...just a little lost.
table modifier is the best answer here. Plug in your scan data and let it add timing where it doesn't find knock.
Oh my. I didn't realize this is what table modifier did. I'm such a noon its almost embarrassing... Just read this bout Eddie's TM.
That's exactly what I was looking for, and it was right under my nose the whole time. Sheesh. I remembered reading about it in the guide, but thought I had to have a more dialed in tune first.It also allows you to see where each scanned line corresponds to the timing table.

I missed it, sorry. But thanks! I was thinking I couldn't use TM until I did a ve tune. Dunno why, think one of the guides mention it.
Good news is that TM is friggin amazing...for a noob like me. Loaded in my scan from 2 days ago. Just made maf and small timing adjustments. Totally different car. My trims look way better. Yeah, I'm pumped. Was also seeing 8lbs of boost. Have never seen over 7. Not what I'm focused on, just an observation.
One issue though. I can't import the ve table that TM creates. Dhp gives an error about not being able to import because the file has more columns than the destination? Here's a screenshot of the two VE tables:
DHP export on left, TM modded on right. Just noticed I didn't scroll over far enough on the right table, but basically the DHP table goes from 0-140kPa but the TM nodded table only has values for 20-140kPa, so missing 2 rows of data. Tried creating it a couple times, same thing.
I could just copy the values it gave me over, but it makes for an odd step between 10-20kPa. Any ideas?

to import a file into dhp, it has to have the same amount of grid squares, and since it doesn't it gives the fail message. I dont remember what I changed in the table modifier to get it to work, but I do remember there is a way to save all the changes you have made with table modifier so you dont have to import/export anything to dhp, just need to save the new bin and load it.
One word of caution, make sure you reset your fuel trims after every change that affects the fuel trim, and make sure you give your car plenty of time to relearn the trims before taking another scan for adjustment. if in doubt, err on the side that gives the car more time to learn. I made too many changes in too short of a time period and ended up leaning out my fuel trims to the point of generating kr.
Ty Sgt. Yeah I'm gonna take it slow through this tank of gas and get it dialed. Right now I'm pretty happy, just wanna see what a couple more TM exports will do. Not gonna mess with timing much more. Next tank is E85/60's and 3.25. See if I can get that kr free then I'll look at bringing timing up. I'm actually enjoying tuning now thanks to Eddie
Now that i'm running E85, i'm trying to dial in my WOT a/f. Right now I'm seeing 10.2 on the gauge in the car. But the commanded in UVscan is showing 11.7.
My Base_PE_A/F looks like this:
What would be causing it to dump so much fuel? PE_vs_time is the only table that should effect my commanded A/F right? Does the MAF table still effect my fueling when I'm at WOT?
the commanded a/f is almost always different than the actual. the pcm still uses maf data at wot, but its pe mode so it uses different table information
Yeah I know its going to be different, I'm just wondering how I can lean it out. I don't think I want to lean out the base_PE table any more just judging by other's tables. I was thinking about zeroing out PE_Vs_time.
Maybe it will correct itself once I use table modifier a few more times. I've only did one tune with it and its already feeling better. Loving the e85 though. I have zero WOT knock. Only time I see it is occasionally and randomly when I downshift.
I zeroed out my pe vs time table. I dont know why, but a few people said it was a good idea. this is my pe table, give it a try and see if it makes a difference

You don't have any valvetrain mods, do you? If not, I'd rather get some rockers and drop pullies, than lean it out as much as possible.
I don't. Almost pulled the trigger on a few sets, but I'm trying to resist. I am planning on camming next spring. But its gonna be hard to resist. If I see a good deal I probably will fold and get rockers cause I should be able to get money back when I sell them. I did have my guides trimmed so I could go cam+rockers, but don't think my port job is up to the task.
Anyone have any idea how to get Table Modifier to see Wideband data? I guess my wideband isn't supported, but i have it's data in my scan log. Seems like all you would have to do is change the column name to whatever Table Modifier looks for and it should see it. I mean, wideband data is wideband data, right?
you try using uvscan with the wideband? then use that scan in eddies.
you going through the egr wires to read the wide band? i need to set that up. something with a pid needs to be added or something?
Yes, using UVscan with Wideband through egr. But in TM I don't see any options to change anything for wideband. When you export a MAF or VE tune in TM, you have the options popup, and the wideband tab is greyed out. Can't select anything. There is an options that says "check this box if you are tuning using a wideband o2 sensor" but you can't tick it. I'm using TM 6.9
