Hey guys just another opinion here besides mine, I'm looking at dropping pulley again and installing 1.9s for now before I take time out of my busy schedule to throw my stage 3 p&p heads on.

Currently I'm running an l67 block with SD headers and a gen v with a 3.5mps and e85@20* timing no kr which so ever wideband AFR at 11.2

Thinking of a 3.3 with 1.9s on 18* timing any suggestions here or opinions before I make the move.

On a gen 3 top swap I ran the same setup with a 3.2mps with a gen 3 pushing 20* so I'm curious as the gen v equation would be considered a 3.1mps if it was a gen 3.

    Thanks

Soon: Stage 3 p&p heads, 1.9s and #90s.. All sitting for no reason just need installed.

I already like you. Like most people, they try to run the smallest pulley they can with minimal timing, you seem to be opposite with a larger pulley and higher timing. Timing > Boost.

I run a 3.4 on my Gen V (Mods in my sig), at 16* of timing without e85. I bet you could easily run a 3.3" on a Gen V with close to 20* of timing still. E85 is wonderful stuff.

Start with your 3.3", set your timing at like 17* and go for a spin. No KR, increase timing 1* until you either see KR or get above 20*. If your still KR free after 20* timing on a 3.3, well, I'd invest in a 3.2" and start again.

Thabks man, I've been a big guy on timing over boost but on e85 I simply see a urge for more boost with this fuel. Thanks for your input.

By the way if you have a video of your exhaust sounds with those borla mufflers can you post up I am looking into borla also... What model borla are you running, thanks

You are going to gain more at your level by pulling back timing and using a smaller pulley.

Dude just run both. A bunch of timing and a tiny pulley. It's e85. I'm at a 3.0 with 21* timing. Granted I have an s1x, but I'm sure you could get close to that as I'm sure I could go down more if I wanted. Why choose?

    Do both.

Both... if E85 can handle an XP cam and 20 PSI of boost on my end itll take what you toss at it

I have not seen worthwhile gains passed 17 degrees on e85 but you might widen the power band if you ramp the timing hard after 5500rpm.

You can run basically a 3.0 pulley on a gen 5 with little to no mods

So let me ask you fellow tuners another question... When tuning e85 let's say I am on pump gas and I adjust my 42.5s IFR table for pump gas... And now o switch to e85 do you guys just tune the maf table to compensate. For the fuel and leave pump gas IFR table as is? I ask cause I've done it this way before and I ran with my old setup a top swap... 42.5s, e85 plog, 2.5 dp 104s and a 3.4 with only 13.5* timing I managed a 13.6 my first pass with a 2.06 60ft.

Now I actually added 30% fuel to the IFR table and it looks like the stock 33# inj IFR table and I left the maf alone. This is a way of seeing 20* timing no kr no problem but it doesn't feel as powerful asy first time tuning e85 where I didn't touch the IFR table but just MAF... Did I make any sense which so ever. Sorry

Yeah just do it via ifr table. I did it by just switching injectors to 42# in the beginning. always ran slightly lean and got a little knock. Now tuned properly. A bunch of timing, small pulley and no knock. Ifr table for the win.

Well then if I'm going by IFR table then I'll just drop pulleys I guess and go that route. Let me say that with current setup I've done 50mph-120 runs with not one blimp of KR just figured I'd ask again. Thanks

Quick clarification: I set my ifr to what it's suppose to be at and then I set each cylinders skew rate to 133. Either way works, either inflating the injectors 30 some odd percent over where they're rated or just adjusting the skew. I prefer skew so my dic show my 13mpg accurately...

All these questions have been answered by frosty in a great writeup he did in the tuning section btw.

You'll be tempted to lean your AFR out, don't give in to the temptation. Keep it at 11.2-11.4
When you go between gas and E85, only adjust your IFR, the rest doesn't need to be touched.

I have a nice thread in my signature for tuning e85. Personally I found Boost > Timing. Also with E85 try to run richer if possible. E85 doesnt make the engine bog down from overfuel until your well below the 10:1 range (Gas calibrated wideband) Personally I shoot for 10.8. The cooling effect from the added alcohol is HUGE.

Alright Frosty instead of modifying the IFR table I put that back to 42.5s for pump gas and modified the skew table like you mention I'll try this out once I get off work and see how she likes it. I'll aim for 10.7-10.8 on the pump gas WB and report back. Still looking forward to dropping that pulley though just need to order me a new 3.3.

A 3.0 pulley is safe on 42s as long as you have at least 1 decent mod.

For example... A cam lol I plan on getting another block and just throwing in an intense stage 1 can with my p&p heads but that'll take some time and I'm desperate for more HP already lol I got bored and threw another degree of timing at it and still no LR and. Dropped the AFR to 10.6 so I have to up of a tad on the AFR. So does anyone know the actual math numbers to calculate fuel AFR vs ethanol to get that correct numbers?

Frostys skew was changed to 1.22 for summer e85 or (122% in dhp i think). Is 133% the way to go? Just wondering which is correct? I would like to see my DIC working somewhat still so I have a close estimate on where to go find some e85..lol
