Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
Amen Scotty! But lucky I'm in NJ a lot lol and btw I'm from Brooklyn I HATE Staten Island with every fiber of my being BUT can't afford to move right now LOL my ex wife lives in Brooklyn with my son and my GF lives in NJ so I'm in traffic a LOT of the time it sucks but is what it is lol I've heard from people check my o2 sensor even if it's not throwing a code yadda yadda I'd love to see proof from anyone beyond DIC real proof that they are getting 30 mpg even if it's majority highway I still get 22ish
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
Brooklyn's no better for stop and go...... good thing you get the toll discounts, tolls alone could beat you down too.
i forget the name of the bridge to NJ, but boy aint hat one a pos lol i think they could have made it 3 foot narrower, so much fun in a roll off truck. all wheels are on the lines.
is that the Hamilton? its been years since i had to work over there.
funny too how the top of SI is a sh it hole, the south is much nicer. even near the land fill is nice homes. f ing hylan blvd, dont miss that torn up pos road either.
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
Used closed loop set your master stoich value to something like 15.2 adjust your pe accordingly.
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
i need to learn wtf your talking about, i own a tuner lol
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
It's the outer crossing and gothels
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
thats right, two pos bridges lol
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
pull from your AE table if your doing lots of stop and go.
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
i need my hand held, or start reading a lot more. to bad the manual for DHP dont tell you what to do or how to do jack.
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
Yea I'm in the same boat as you Scotty manuals don't really tell much that's useful.. and I don't want to just start changing things and mess my car up
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
learning curve seems hard dont it lol
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
there are plenty of gm manuals on our EFI system. the whole damn mess is absolute values with major /minor/minorest tables that are all additive/subtractive/multiplicative.
its easy
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
Where can I get the manuals? I got no problem reading and learning but people don't want to help I guess cause everyone's help has been "check bills drop box" which has useful stuff but manuals are kinda garbage
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
The point os you dont need a manual to explain that more gas makes it richer and less gas makes it leaner.
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
Yes I'm aware of that it's common sense BUT when editing a chart with specific settings that I'm not 100% sure how it will effect the other settings etc I'm not asking for someone to tune my car I'm just asking for advice from people who have probably gone threw the same thing and know what I can and can't mess with that's all.. if someone simply said oh okay mess with the MAF airflow table, PE, AE etc etc it would help a lot I'm not a complete idiot I just don't want to mess my car up doing something that is wrong
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
Everything is percentage based. Take 4% out and you get 4% less fuel. Add 4% and you'll get 4% more. This holds true for everything youll need im the 3800 pcm and almost everything in other ecus.
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
Luckily making a mistake is not going to mess your car up.
If you fail at some common sense things then you have a chance of commanding 50 degrees of timing at wot or leaning it out too much but youll be able to see those things before they become a problem.
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
With most parameters, you'll be safe if you make small, incremental changes and go back if you don't get the desired results.
And yeah, the DIC readings will get more bogus the higher your MPG gets. I regularly calculate MPG, if I get 32 avg. the DIC will read about 34/35, if I drive almost pure highway and calculate 36 avg, the DIC will read nuts like 40. Really, the DIC is only good for testing better/worse.

is this the right area to be working in? if so how much should i back these %"s down to?
master stoich value? is this the commanded air fuel ratio?

Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
BUMP? any one? buler, buler?
Re: Tuning for optimal mpg with DHP
Sorry man sold my tuner.. went back to stock bin and sold it lol I want to try HP tuners now I like DHP but the lack of support and lack of being able to get on the forum etc plus I've got more information with HP that will teach me instead of trial and error
