I'm gonna buy a new usb to serial adapter in the am and try that and see if I'm gonna meet up with my friend.. If I get this cable install the driver etc I'd assume it's the DHP but like I said I had it working before the driver got messed up so I have faith that it's the cable! If not I will have my friend hook my DHP in place of his and see if it works

OK so! I bought the USB to serial adapter this morning http://www.staples.com/Staples-USB-t...product_837560 this one to be exact. No where around here sells the Keyspan anyway so I hooked it up installed the driver. Connected the DHP to the car/PC and did the interface registration and guess what! It failed the same exact way! So before I snap out I messed with the speed settings on the COM 3,4,5 and 7 in said order. Once I got to 7 I did the registration and was looking at something besides the computer cause I figured it would fail anyway. I turn back around to retry it and it says "Registration Complete" for a moment I was like wtf? What just happened? So I go to read my PCM and it doesn't work over and over I try (97 GTP not 01 GT) so I was like let me start the car it's like 100 degrees I'm sweating and I will try to scan live data see if that works. So I scan and it works fine so I'm like hmm why won't it read my PCM it's a ZZP PCM but was edited with DHP by a friend a few months ago so it should read! But either way I tried like 4 times and the switched it to "force upper case VIN" and bam it worked! Now I'm not sure as to why that helped BUT it did so now everything so far KNOCK ON WOOD!!! Is working good so if you're having the same "Interface Registration" issue I suggest a few things.

    1. Check speed settings (COM on the computer end, DHP software).
    2. If you have a cheap USB to serial adapter get either Keyspan or the one I posted above.
    3. Try ALL your USB ports with all speed settings.
    4. Check, reinstall drivers for your adapter if you don't have the actual adapter drivers download several and keep trying.

This was on my HP laptop with Windows 8.1, 64 bit, Powrtuner Software v1.2.4, 115,200 speed.

I just gave him avt parts and said random things. I did notice he had a goofy 9ft cable that was labeled DHP and not avt like all of the ones I have had.

My unit which has a higher firmware and serial # than the ones all of you guys posted (2.9/3800xx) also has the 9ft. obd cable thats labeled DHP.
I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever have any issues...fortunately my registered like a charm first time, it however had been a one owner unit that had been meticulously cared for and still looks brand new.(Thanks Foghorn!)
Glad to see you both got yours up and running!

step one of DHP is make sure that the red light flashes on the box... If thats not happening dont even bother hooking up a serial cable.

If you hang out with Paul at times, tell him I said hi. On a side note....I've touched that cable, so there's at least a couple of fingerprints on it.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
