personally, i would just hop on craigslist, find a cheap "good" old laptop with a serial port. that WILL fix any com port and registering issues you will have. mine cost $40 and works great. i got lucky with mine that it has a great battery and is good for a few hours without being plugged in.

Try right clicking the PowrTuner icon and saying "Run As Administrator". Also try right clicking, going to properties, choosing Compatibility mode for Window XP.

Ok so I'm using an acient laptop I'm borrowing from a friend. It has a serial port, still can't get it to register. Not sure how to configure a com port anymore but I tried every one at every speed and still not luck. ??!

So I just noticed what looks like an LED light on the DHP box. Is this suppose to be lite up while connected to my diagnostics port or laptop? Because it's not.

Is there anyway to test whether it's just burned out or if the DHP itself is bad?

I'm ready to either sell this thing or smash it. I love how I get comments from people saying how great this is over hpt but they offer 0 input on how to get it to work. Present help aside

im not gonna lie here at all. it took me 2 weeks worth of trying this and that for a few hours every day. i was more then ready to just punch the laptop.

ill do some screen shots and post them up of my xp set up, maybe it will help. i need to re boot in xp and grab stuff, so it will be a bit.

You will have to determine which COM portyou have the PCM Interface connected to by looking at your computer settings(hardware manager). The baud rate is based on the version of the hardware youhave. If you look at the Powrtuner label, you will notice a number in thebottom left hand number such as 24/729169. The firmware revision is the 24.
If you have firmware 2.0 or older, then you must select a baud rate of 57,600.
If you have a firmware of 2.2 or newer, then you must select a baud rate of115,200.

You can change your port setting and yourbaud rate by click on the arrow to the right of each box. This will produce a drop down menu for you tochoose from. Once you have selected yoursettings, click “Save” on the lower right side of the window.

i can find no speed setting for the key span or anything that will show its speed, it only works on the lower speed 57,600.

    The number is 2.81816011
I understand how to change the com and baud in the DHP settings, I tried them all for both the serial and keyspan methods. I'm more interested in whether or not I need to mess with the com port settings in the device manager. I tried both baud rates in the device manager with no luck either but there are a bunch of other things to mess in there as well.

I also downloaded the 1.1.4322 framework. Does the DHP version matter?

i assume you bought this used?

its possible that the cable(s) you have is bad. try buing a new DB9 cord and a new DB9/OBD2 adapter cord. shouldnt cost more than $20 online.

on the older computer you are using now, STOP trying to use the keyspan, seriously stop.

you have a serial port that you can use, use it.

make sure you have at least .net 1.1 and the correct MDAC installed. if you have service pack 2 or 3 with XP, this should be automatically included (i think). if you are using a Vista computer, put it in a fire and get a different one or put XP on it. You may just want to put a fresh install of XP w/ SP3 on that old laptop.

lastly, the LED thing, it should be blinking IIRC. mine is an older one without the LED or the additional ports for the wideband.

my hunch is that you may be in a similar situation as this guy... http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/068655.html and this one... http://60degreev6.com/forum/showthre...-AVT-841/page4

    good luck

Went to hook it up to my other GP and driver problems again like crazy! I finally got to done now it reads the pcm 3/4 of the way and comes up with that error you have posted.. I have no clue wth is the problem it worked and now it don't and I used it on my GT a hour previous then my GTP I thought it might be the usb to serial BUT I have it where it reads 3/4 of the way and drivers loaded good now I'm stumped and came on here cause I remember seeing this before I got it I was checking to make sure it works before I'm not backed by Paypal from the guy I bought it off of..

build a off board tuner. it may work better. i also run a battery charger to the cars battery to keep its voltage up. and plug the laptop into a wall outlet.

i was getting sensitivity codes left and right. and of course the good old pc crshing. as long as your cable is registered this thing works. i registered the cable on my desktop pc and this off board tuner set up.

    follow this diagram.

Thanks I'm gonna try to fix the speed settings first though cause when I had it on the GT it was 57600 when I hooked it up to the GTP it was the other speed I was just so consumed with the driver I didn't think nothing of it I figured it was no big deal I want to make a off-board harness though so I can tune mine easier then sitting in the car and maybe I will tune other people's ie friends etc so it's easier I will let you guys no how the speed settings work if not I'm thinking of buying a new usb to serial cable.. it's just weird it worked for me then a hour later it didn't
