Thread: Good Torque Pro Equivalent for iPhone?

Looking for a torque pro equivalent for iphone, for all the usual parameters such as KR and the like. I have used torque in the past and already have the bluetooth dongle and what not. I know there are several apps out there, but which works the best for the Grand Prix?


The company I work for has issued me an iPhone and I'd like to be able to use it for scanning from time to time.

About the closest one I know of is an app called Rev, but it sucks and costs like $30.

Jail break and get dash commander pro... It's better than torque and very detailed you can scan and also view/log any and all odb2 parameters but it is like 100 bucks

Guess I'll give up on scanning with the iphone. I always have HPT for scanning anyway.

I use Palmer Dashcommand. There's a free version to let you try it out. The paid one is $9.99 You might need the GM Addon (also 9.99) if you want to monitor more intricate/obscure stuff. RE: your bluetooth dongle, unless it's made by GoPoint, it will *not* work. You'll have to purchase one of the Cheap Elm327 Wifi dongles or one the Wired ones.

Good info. I have an Elm327 in the bluetooth variety. I'm new to the Apple world... why is there a problem using bluetooth? I have used this same adapter for scanning KR with Torque on Android.

It's not a problem. Apple requires developers of Hardware that interfaces w/ iOS to be certified. This requires a nominal fee.... In exchange, you get access to tools, support engineers, etc. and you can use the Made for iPod, iPad, iPhone logos on your packaging.

This is only true of certain device classes that iOS can speak to. (this is not true for bluetooth earpieces and headphones, those only have to conform to the bluetooth spec)

There's another OBDII device called Automatic that is certified and is bluetooth, but made specifically to interface w/ their app and can't be used as a diagnostic tool like the ELM or scantool.
