Ok so my buyer is here to pick up the car and we decided to port my completed tunes over to his HPT by uploading them onto the PCM with my DHP then downloading and saving them with his HPT. Looong story short, a series of bad decisions led to bricking the PCM in the car with the new owner 1500 miles away from home. is the deal with the compatibility between OSIDs, VIN's, service numbers etc. I have a 1998 Regal GS PCM that I have always considered my "spare". For situations like this and we tried to upload my .bin and vin to it and it wouldn't go. Just says osid is not compatible with PCM. Tried to import all the changes from the tuned .bin to the stock GS .bin and upload that back to the GS PCM and the car won't start.
Everything I've read says oh they are all interchangeable between 1998 and 2002 but we tried everything from turning security functions and dtcs off to resetting the vats, trying to match VIN numbers in files. No matter what we did it would not start. My regal GS PCM should be a 16236757 my stock 99 PCM should be a 09361735. Now that it is totally ****ed WHAT DO WE NEED TO BUY to upload my completed 1999 GTP .bin file back onto a PCM and get him on his way with the car?

First off... and this is going to make you face palm... HPT will read DHP files. So you could have simply emailed them to him.

    Secondly.. this might help you

So if I buy a 09361735 pcm can I just plug it in and upload my normal tune using the file vin and it should work?

    Pm sent.

I can unbrick your pcms and flash around the different osids today. You need a rare or modified version of dhp to flash some of the different block files onto the 98 to 03 pcms even though they are fully compatible.

Bought a 09361735 PCM at the junkyard this morning and flashed my regular tune onto it using the file VIN, worked good. Got the car running, the new owner is on his way home with it. Still looking at having DH "unbrick" the original one so I can mail it to the new owner. He had already used his HPT VIN credits on that one and the HPT wouldnt work with the new PCM that we bought even though the VIN and OSID was the same as the one he had already unlocked.

Are you talking about the db update/patch that was passed around? Think it only worked on version f or something... Only issue is that version doesn't stay unlocked for all bins

Anthony.. HPT wants you to have both the vin/yr of the new pcm unlocked and the year you are writing.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I matched up the VIN with dhp, the year was the same, the service number was the same the osid was the same because it we were originally using.
