Not sure if this is well known yet, but you can (and have been able to) buy brand new AVT boxes from this website.

Advanced Vehicle Technologies, Inc. - Price List

The 841, 842, and (I think) 852 boxes all work with the DHP software.
Why buy a used DHP for $300 when you can get a brand new one for $250?

For those of us who have no idea (I feel like I cant be the only one...),

Could you explain exactly what an AVT box is? Never heard that term before.

It's what you get when you buy "dhp"
The software is readily available, it's the hardware that's hard to find.
But on this site you can buy the hardware.

I remember years ago seeing this and it saying as supply's last. Do we know if they are even still instock? Also who has tested to be sure it does work with the hardware without having a custom chip burned for the board. I have read and heard people say they work, but never heard it first hand...

They will not work as the firmware inside the AVT needs to have DHP specific code on them.

X2 I emailed the company a while back for info and had this same issue brought up. Never wanted to put $250 up to check it.

Not unless you burn the chip yourself.

I actually have one of these AVT Boxes, works a lot better then the older DHP boxes and works with the DHP software with out any hitches, also flash times are about 30 seconds using the usb connection instead of the serial connection. Funny part is I have had it for about 2 years now and after doing my research and consistent e-mails I discovered that AVT was actually the company that build the black boxes for DHP.

    AVT-841

This is from an e-mail between me and AVT
On the other hand, I know what I used to deliver to DHP, so
I should be able to configure an AVT-841 properly.
    Also

    Regarding the revision level.
To the best of my knowledge, DHP only supported J1850 VPW (GM Class2). The AVT-841 also has 2-wire CAN and K-line installed already. There is no good reason to remove those two protocols from the board. Hence, the revision level is "K". You're just not going to be using two-thirds of the board capabilities.

I believe the board is correctly configured (in firmware) to make the DHP software 'happy'. But only your testing will be able to prove that.

I'll be available by phone or email to help, if I can, with getting it working with your software.

    Regards,
    Mike.
Which I have tested and know that it does all work

Would have been a good idea not to because you would have to pirate software to use them.
