I had this problem a few weeks ago after a few times hooking up the pcm with hpt. Couldn't figure it out so I pulled all wires from the pcm connectors to tidy everything up and re hook it all back up and everything worked fine. The other day I took out the coilpack/icm to remount it and since then I get the error "unable to locate vcm. verify the cable is connected and the key is in the run position." This 3800sc swap is in a fiero that I have yet to fire up.

Well whatever you did stopped the communication to the PCM.

So some connection isnt being completed and now the obd 2 can't locate the PCM.

Sometimes a battery disconnect overnight can solve the issue

I was playing with the ignition cylinder lock and I think it's in there. Not sure if I need to replace the whole cylinder or if there's a loose wire in there. When I put the key to run then start, it's at the very end of the stroke before contact is made to start.
