so im thinkin about getting a hp tuners vcm suite. I don't think they have access to 06/07. so im wondering what hoops I half to jump through to make this happen. Do I just get a 04/05 pcm and change the vin or is it not that simple. also I don't care if the gas gauge reads backwards though it would be nice if it was correct. Do I get a overkill, and adjust from there? or is that even a option (locked pcm) thx guys,

    Get a 04-05 pcm.

You wont have to change the VIN because the PCM has a VIN on it. It doesnt have to match the vin thats on the car.

You would just open up the VCM editor, read PCM, then it will scan the PCM and ask to you licence it and at that point you do and your in.

I am pretty sure the only draw back is the gas gauge reading backwards, perhaps someone else knows of any other minor things it changes.

sorry for the poor explanation, I did mean changing the vin on the pcm. I wonder if I can just open the hatch in the trunk and flip the two wires on the gauge circuit, its probly not that easy though. I'll look at some diagrams and see If I can make any sence outta them. I wonder what overkill did in the program to make it happen. Do you know what he uses?(hpt / efi live) thx five I like your response !!

I am not sure what he uses, but a good guess is HPT or DHP for these pontiac's.

ik this is an old post but i have a question. if you got a PCM out of a 2005 and put it in your 2007 and you didnt flash it i dont think it would work b/c the BCM VIN didnt match and wouldnt work... if you got it to work with out flashing the 05 PCM let me know b/c i am thinking about tuning my 07 and just trying to figure out what all i have todo.
    thanks

VIN does not matter, nor will it care about the BCM. It just has to be there.

You can buy a 05 GTP computer and install, but your gas gauge will read backwards.

The only problems that may happen is needing a security re-learn.

When I bought my 06 GT (supercharged) pcm from will @ overkill, I asked about core charge n what would work with mine. Also I could get an 04 pcm n he said this.
"04 won't work but if you get an 05 3.8 PCM (super or non) I can reprogram that for your vehicle. I can also reprogram an 06-07 Grand Prix only (no Buicks) 3.8 PCM for your vehicle if you can find one of those as easily."
