Re: Any Newbie to GTP tuning tips, as far as what NOT to do??
Can you shut off all the evap codes? Just to make it run that monitor? I know on my 04 it wouldn't run the cat monitor when I installed the non foulers on the rear 02 sensor. I drove it thru at least 15 drive cycles and 400 miles. When I shut off the P0420 code with HPT and reflashed it that monitor was run instantly. They won't run the evap monitor if the cat monitor has ran.

I am not sure. I only have a week left to get it tested, so I need to figure something out quick.
I am going to start by finding the darn EVAP hose, since it obviously isn't where it is supposed to be...
If I could shut off the codes to make it "skip" the EVAP part of it's readiness monitors, I'd do it so it will pass, then I can take some time and actually try to "fix" this thing right.
Re: Any Newbie to GTP tuning tips, as far as what NOT to do??
I know it's late, and I've had a long day....but I don't recall seeing that you've verified it having the evap solenoid on it? It's mounted right on the bracket that goes to the alternator, has a red plug going into it. That vacuum tube that runs from the throttle body to the solenoid is notorious for cracking and breaking. The heat gets to it, breaks down the rubber, and sometimes you have to improvise by shoving line inside of it because it's two different sizes from one end to the other.
If it's had a new snout put on the blower, someone may have pulled the whole thing off to do it so that they didn't get any oil on the engine. It's easy to forget to scrape the gasket off of the bottom of the supercharger, and when it heats up, the gaskets could shrink, metal expands, and then you have a vacuum leak. A loapy chug on the engine is a HUGE vacuum leak, something like that you'll probably hear it.
Just going from my experience.

Thanks for the reply and you are correct. I have not been able to verify that the car even has the EVAP solenoid on it. My son and I work 2 complete opposite shifts so actually seeing the car can be hard.
I do know with certainty that the throttle body does not have any hose coming off of it at all...I don't recall even seeing a tube for the hose to go on it.
Could someone have changed/swapped the throttle body with one from a Naturally aspirated 3800 engine?

You ever get this figured out?
Re: Any Newbie to GTP tuning tips, as far as what NOT to do??
Nope. I kept getting "incomplete" for the evap system and when I found the solenoid, all I did was shake the wires and I guess that allowed it to work. Two days later it passed emission test and as for the cat and lean codes I left them turned off. He said it isn't doing that bucking/loping thing anymore so I assume these cars are just weird like my old ladies Lincoln....does goofy stuff for no apparent reason then is fine for months....
He took it to the track, on a 90% humidity/98 degree day and ran 15.0 (5 times) with it spinning through 1st every pass. Don't know if that's good bad or average but he's already talking about getting rid of it so I'm pretty much done worrying about it.
Thanks for all the help everyone.
