Anybody in the decatur ill area or around this area capable of tuning my car for me? I had a zzp tune but i guess it was tuned to lean and blew holes in my pistons. Im getting a new motor put in now and would like to get it tuned before it happens again.

There are literally no shops in illinois that will tune a 3800, best luck is get a overkill tune or drive to I think ohio or wisconsin for the nearest tuner that is willing to tune our cars... Sorry for the bad news boss

highly unlikely a tune caused your car to break.

What were these "lean" conditions in terms of wideband numbers? You can do quite a bit of tuning with an AFC and a o2 sensor delete.

I'm pretty sure that everyone that told you "it was the tune," in the other thread knows nothing about tuning anyways.

A hole in your valve cover won't affect anything, besides maybe leaking some oil.

I still want to see these holes.

Never seen a 3800 piston with holes in it yet.

    Just chipped pistons.

The so called lean condition is all speculation as there truly is no way to know. There's no tuner or recording method hooked up, no wideband, etc. So, chipped pistons are chipped pistons, does it really matter how? But now, what you leave out is what mods you had on that engine... Do you plan to install the Meth kit on this engine as well?

What are ALL of your mods you're planning for the replacement engine? Just curious...

I confused the meth kit with a different thread...

Anyways, my question was what plans and or mods do you have for the replacement engine if any?

It may seem silly of me to ask, but seeing as the motor was blown, why top swap again? Why not just drop an L67 in and call it a day? Less trouble IMO.

Because L67 pistons can be chipped as well.
