Things happen. I'd have a shop tune it next go round.

with a good tune you top swap guys should make great power on a l26/l36 bottom end, i did one back in 06 it made 300whp on e85 with no intercooler and has been a DD for 80k miles, If i were to build a supercharged car again the only short block i would use would be an l26 and id bump the compression up to 10:1 or higher cam headers e85 intercooler would make high 300's all day long, the tune kills l26's the rods handle 500-600whp no problem

Yep this is what I truely believe in as well. I will be using another L26 and looking into finding a cam as well. I don't know if je forged 10:1 pistons will be in my budget so soon, but it actually crossed my mind today. An intercooler definitely isn't so that'll be further down the road.

Right now I'm just trying to figured out whether to rebuild on my own or pay a shop. The swap was mechanically sound and I've rebuilt engines before. The tune is just where I lack the most. I'll figure it out by Friday. Suggestions?

junk yard l26 they are dirt cheap and reliable, you can get 10:1 compression by milling the heads, i can normally get l26's complete shipped to my house from the local junk yard for around 300 bucks last one i picked up had 14k miles on it

Yeah....would be cheaper and get me back on the road faster. I just need to make sure this doesn't happen again at least not so soon. Low miles engine and replace bottom end bearings before throwing it in?......and be a better tuner? Lol

Find a used L67. Even with high miles they are still very reliable. Might be a bit more expensive that an l26, but it is worth it IMO. I just did a ported heads and IC install on my already cammed 113k mile bottom end a few weeks ago. Running a pretty conservative tune and she runs like a raped ape.

Today didn't world out so I'm going out next Friday to see what I can find. I hate to go on a weekend where everyone is getting paid and picking things apart but see what happens I guess.

Ugh... I just need this car running soon so I can wait for the trans to go. Blah.

    Remember the smashed spark plug?

That probably did it lol. It's completely trashed now. Can rock the piston in the bore with my fingers. #1 is dead.

My top swap is running real good, got a 105k mile L26 now with 1,000 miles on it and running strong. Only issue I have is a whiny power steering pump and that little gasket on the coolant bypass is seeping coolant.
