Did you start by using a newer datafile? I know that the 98 I was in recently was a mess compared to my 2000, stock-for-stock. Also toss a 2005 timing table in there, as it is a lot better.

It has been one thing after another with my car.
I'm almost thinking of buying an intense pcm, and go from there.

Personally, I tried using a DHP starter file to start to tune from. But I was having trouble as well. Then I went back to a stock file, and tuned from there. Things were much easier to tune when I was starting with a stock file.

    Try it.

+1. Definitely start from stock and build upwards. I grabbed the 2005 timing table off of HPTuners site; I can probably forward it to you at some point this evening if need be.

How bout an intense pcm, and go from there?
I hate to have the guy tuning me, start from scratch with the tune.
He has a hard time pulling away from his daily shores to tune me.

Waste of money...you have a tuner, use it! If you want to buy a tune, then sell the tuner. You have to go through all of the steps in tuning, regardless of what the starting tune looks like. It may take an extra "pass" down the road to fine tune it, but there is nothing to say that an off-the-shelf tune is not going to be farther off either.

I agree. The best way to tune, IMO, is to start from a stock tune. Otherwise, you are trying to work with someone's setup that doesn't work the best for your car. Yes, you can start with a ZZP, Intense, or DHP tune. But it will be hard, IMO. I have been there. I have tried it. The best way I found to tune is starting from stock.
