ok guys, heres how you delete the cat test. with pics. its two things you need to change using tiny tuner. hp guys its up to you to figure out how to use tiny tuner. i dont have that info at hand.

this is a stock regal 03 bin cat diag enable coolant temp.

this is the change, to -285

now stock file again cat tests per trip stock is 18

    you change it to 0

and of course you need to set the codes to no report in dhp.

enjoy all of you 01 up guys.

    Thanks for the information... BUT

    1) This only works if TinyTuner supports the OS that is in your PCM

    2) You can only use TinyTuner to edit .bin files, it won't edit HP Tuners' .hpt files; and I have yet to find a file converter app that will convert a .hpt file over to a .bin file.

the problem is that many osids dont have the cat diagnostic test programmed into them.

I've got a 2005 Monte SS OS that does have cat diagnostics but TinyTuner doesn't have them defined for that particular OSID.

In other words, TinyTuner is incomplete in its support of all 3800 OSIDs.

why i said you hp guys would need to figure it out, i have a DHP, so its seamless. and i know tt is a editor......this is what everyone has been saying should work but never shows it, or tells what to change.

the 05 gtp bin reads a bit different, but it can figured out with this pics i posted.

If TinyTuner does NOT have the cat diagnostics defined in my 05 Monte OSID, how do you add them so they can be switched off???

i wish i knew how to add stuff like that. not sure if you were to copy the files from another year car if they would take fully or not.

im board right now. let me go dig up a bin for your year and the year under it, see if i can get tt to show them files.

ok i pulled a 04 montie stock l67 bin off bills drop box and in TT it looks the same as the 03 regal bin i posted pics of.

if you want to send me a pcm for your car i can flash this bin to it with the rear o2 shut off. then once you read it with hp its set up that way forever.

dhp will let me set your vin # so hp has no issues with the pcm too. if you know your osid # i can try to match that as well, then ive found two times you dont even need a security learn if that matches.

i just noticed that my lap top and desktop pc's have different TT versions installed. lappy is v3 d/t is v1.9. 1.9 shows way more stuff with my 98 bin vs the v3.

its shows some cat count stuff. once my wideband is installed ill see if turning this off in a 98 makes a difference or not. cause we know we say you can just delete the codes and thats it in a 97-00.

that being said if your not seeing the cat diag in your tt, it maybe the version your using.

and edit: i just tried a 05 gtp bin in tt with the v3 and its fails to show the cat diag, where it shows in 1.9.

Thanks Scotty for finding that! What exactly will I see in my scans if the test is running? I've never seen my trims go rich or wideband. All I've done is disable codes in dhp. Maybe 01 Impala's don't have the issue?

this is supposed to stop it from running the test in the back ground and still over fueling. cause just deleting the codes does is supposedly set the codes to no report.

being your already up and running well. if you have dhp and TT set the files the way i posted, see if it makes a difference in your tune.

I don't have the options you do in TT. This is all I see

Funny, I opened up several different stock files and don't see those options. I'm using TT 1.9

I believe TT's database file contains the definitions for each OSID. There are a LOT of different OSID's used in the various 3800 tune files produced by GM over the years. I've been told by people in the "know" that there are hundreds or more different 3800 OSIDs in existence, and not all of them are supported to as much of an extent as others (within the TT software). This would be the reason why some - with certain OSID's, would see the cat diagnostics showing up in their TinyTuner and others would not.

If one can do a full write and change to a different OSID in their PCM (one that TT does have the cat diagnostics supported in), then that is certainly an option. But not everybody is going to be able to do that.

I've got Tiny Tuner v3. I'm using the database file that was updated on 09-20-13.

Where are you seeing this "1.9" version?

That's where I got mine from too and that's what I'm using but still no support for the 05 Monte SS I'm working with because it's OSID isn't supported by TinyTuner at all! And I've got other 03-05 OSID's that are supported by TinyTuner but there are no cat diagnostics defined / supported by TT at the moment.
