Follow this site and type in your vin.
    TIS

It should tell you what your car was shipped with, any updates to the OS along the way and the most current that your vehicle could have if it has been updated/flashed recently.

Any way I can use this to find out what bin to flash my 2001 gt (top swapped) with a gtp bin? Also wont hp-tuners licensing freak out about flashing different osids and whatnot?

Just use a gtp pcm and change the gear ratio... That's all really.

You can't use a manufacturer website to know how to modify a vehicle they tell you not to modify. Follow Mike's advice if you don't have emissions to worry about.

So ill just flash a gtp bin from 2001 and transfer over my injectors and maf tables and whatnot. Any way to keep hptuners happy throughout the transition?

Uh..if you change a couple of tables and use an L67 bin to begin with, it should stay happy with you. The only catch that I've run into was trying to put an NA Vin on an SC bin. Reason being is HPT validates (or used to validate) the vin to the bin, meaning since no vin K car would ever have an oSID for a SC motor, it would complain. And after saying that, I'll tell you that I flashed my Regal GS (Vin 1) car with a Vin K OSID and changed the Vin successfully to the correct SC car vin.

The boost control soleniod would not be mapped out in the software. I think that and the pump speed relay (which you don't have in an L36 car anyhow) are the only things that are truly different. I find it easier to use the L67 to start instead of trying to change every table and worry about tables that you don't have access to.

i was refering to licensing wise but as far as i can tell ill be shelling out for more credits unless theres a way to upgrade from my single vehicle license to a entire model year license. Howd you manage to flash a non matching vin? If i dont have the right vin in there wont my bcm and whatnot freak out?

Your BCM should want the right year...model shouldn't be as much of an issue. Don't quote me on that. My bcm is a happy clam.

How did I do it... dude if I knew, I'd tell you. I'm using the latest beta version of the software and it just worked. As for upgrading from single to full year..it'll cost you 3 credits.

For some reason reading you refer to your bcm as "happy as a clam" made me laugh out loud. I'll just do the model year upgrade and give it a try. I'll tell you how it goes with the Vin because I'm also running the latest 2.3 beta
