I know a **** ton of work was put into these tunes back in the day (I was there for a lot of it). They still considered a good starting point for a custom tune?

It honestly depends on your goals. Most 1.0 tunes I've seen have always hovered in the mid-high 10's for afr with reasonable timing. There were quite a few things overlooked in the 1.0 tunes that are crucial to longevity and drivability. I would look towards a custom tune to suit your needs.
Well, I'm looking for mainly a mildly modded DD tune.
Why do you say things were overlooked? Can you give a few examples? I've been out of the GP scene for years, but I've got over 300k miles on 1.0 tuned cars with no real drivability problems I've noticed.
Thanks
