On ebay I found the tuner for the same exact price as on the website but they said it's already ready to ship and I would get it sooner than if I ordered off the website.

It says it comes with everything, all the credits, etc..

Is it true that I would probably have to wait 2-3 weeks to get my tuners if I order it directly off HPTuners website???

Another question about the licensing feature. I understand you license your vehicle using the credits, however, what wasn't explained is if I have to pay credits everytime I tune my car or is it a one time fee and I can tune it as much as I want, whenever I want???

    Thanks everyone!

There are a few options on how you want to use the credits. The V6 cars, or 3800 cars for that matter, require 4 credits to unlook that particular year and model. If you only want to use enough credits for 1 car that will be vin-locked to the tuner it is only 2 credits. Say you want to add support for a 2000 GTP. You can either lock it to one vehicle for 2 credits OR you can tune unlimited 2000 GTPs for 4 credits. Either way you can tune as much as you want, you dont have to use credits to make a change each time. Adding support via using your credits on different vehicles perminently locks each selected vehicle into the cable.

so it's year specific??? My car is a 1998 and I would like to have the ability to allow others to tune using my tuner. If they have a 99 they would have to purchase credits, but if they have a 98 then I can tune theirs for no extra fee???

Now the tuner I get can do my friends Ford Focuss, Mustangs, etc. if they wanted to use it, as long as they purchase the credits, right? Or is the tuner Make specific???

I'm thinking of purchasing the tuner off ebay tomorrow because they guarantee fast shipping and everything is exactly the same as the website. Sound good or should I not risk it and go straight to the source???

    Update...

I just bought my Tuner off ebay from an official vendor of HPTuners. He said it comes with everything, he had an almost 100% feedback rating with over 8000 items sold in the past 12 months. He also said I should expect to have it by Monday! How awesome is that? I'll let everyone know how the process goes before I recommend him, but from the feedbacks I've been reading he seems like the real deal. Next it's onto ZZP Headers!

I picked mine up from The Tuning School by Precision Motorsports of Florida and had it in no time. On top of that, they give a 5% discount on any credits you buy later on.

    You'll like it. It's a great tool.

Yes you could use your 8 free credits and license all 1998 Grand Prix and all 1999 Grand Prixs. If you want to license anything else you'll have to purchase credits. Because of how expensive additional credits are, I would charge others so you can essentially recoupe you wasting your credits on them.

Btw. The license is for editing only. You can scan any GM Ford Dodge, etc they support.

Thats fantastic. I need to learn before I charge people to recoup my spending, however I have a lot to play with as I have friends who have Cobalts and Grand Ams I can mess with and they can learn as well. They said they would give me some money for allowing them to use it along side them. Should be good with 2 or 3 people all learning to tune at the same time.

also thanks for the info Josh, I wish I would have seen something like that sooner. If I learn how to do this I would like to help others in the Maryland area, and could even do it at my brothers shop to make it more professional. I'm a long ways away from that and wouldn't do it if I felt I could mess someones car up though.

I live halfway between Hagerstown and Frederick; if you want to come out and play let me know and we might be able to work something out. I need to retune the car anyway, so I could at least show you how I do it.

I'm 100% up for that. In fact that sounds FANTASTIC!!! Having someone hold my hand through it would be the best thing. It could help minimize my potential mistakes and prevent damage to my car. PM me what days would be good for you and I'll tell you what days aren't. I do have a busy schedule from school and work, but generally All day Tuesday and Thursdays I'm available, and most evenings and nights after 3. Thanks!
