Horrible, horrible, horrible PCM. Plain and simple.

More than not people have had major issues with them. Either ZZP having not done all the programming to it that the customer had requested. Or in some cases their car wouldn't even start with it installed. A couple of people have also reported having shifting problems after installing it.

go with an intense pcm for starters, but eventually have it tuned locally for optimum performance

I actually have the ZZP PCM now and its okay. I guess I may be one of lucky ones that dont have problem w/ mine. One thing that I did notice is that I currently dont have a cat and I am not throwing any codes. I didnt request for them to disable my o2's but whatever. I will say this, I got a Overkill PCM and had it on my car for about a hr and noticed an immediate difference. I had to send it back b/c they didnt disable my o2's so I am waiting for it to come back. My suggestion is if you want to stay w/ just a PCM and not get a tuner do Overkill or Intense. Be aware that the Overkill PCM does take some time to ship. Worth the wait I guess.

    Sorry about the paragraph.

Some people would like to have a good tune and not mess with it forever. For them an Overkill PCM is a great choice.

Have you noticed the amount of people that buy a tuner and spend a months or years trying to get the hang of it. They are on the forums constantly asking for help, frustrated with their results etc.

All I'm saying is a tuner isn't for everyone.

Never had a problem with mine and I'd take it over an intense PCM any day of the week. All of the off the shelf tunes will generally work better, but not optimal for a given car, but I agree with spending the extra and getting a tuner. It will save you headaches in the long run.

If I had it to do over again, I would have bought an Overkill pcm. But since I have a tuner I'll just dial it in myself. The ZZP PCM seems way too generic to me.

If you're computer/mechanically savvy, and willing to learn it doesn't take long to get the hang of tuning. But some people are just hopeless I guess.

Yeah F**K ZZP PCM's...that is why I have another motor in my car...what happened to good old DHP base tunes? That is what I ran for awhile but now I am running a custom tune thanks to the Green Bastard. IMO I say DHP.

ok Im just a bit lost. lets say I get a tuner, ok, can I skip getting an aftermarket pcm?
or does the aftermarket unit have options that I cant access with a tuner?

so far this is the one question I havent asked b/c I thought I would find it in a thread somewhere, but I havent or just crossed my eyes through it.

^^^ depends on the tuner, they both have acess to tables that the other doesn't, but all the important tables are there in both HPT and Powertuner ......

And the ZZP PCM worked, but was way too generic, the P0300 codes(missfire) were removed, and the cat codes (neither of which I requested or wanted) also the VE table blows, my failed maf ran better than my car did off the VE tables.......but I did feel a difference from stock, so It wasn't a horrible PCM, I just wouldn't do it again, and put the $100 towards a tuner
