For some reason, my car used to pass inspection. As of a few years ago, I was told that the car could not be inspected because I can only have one monitor show "not ready", and I have two showing not ready. Catalyst and EGR. The EGR is gonzo, so it will never show ready, and the codes are apparently tuned to show as pending...so thats all good. After looking through some old paperwork, I noticed that since I bought the car, it has never shown the catalyst as ready but it passed. So they must have changed the inspection laws. Basically, is there anything while tuning the PCM that will disable the catalyst from completing its test?

Yes, the battery has died numerous times due to not driving it. But I've put over 1000 miles on it within about 3 months, without the battery dieing in between, and it still shows not ready.

I think it might be. It has a 3"downpipe and a 3" exhaust with cutout back to the Y. If that were the case, would a high flow cat not complete its test? (and yes, the pcm is tuned) These are some pics of underneath:

They appear to be set to pending. Because I have 2 egr codes that dont trigger the CEL and when I connect my code scanner to it, it always shows them as pending. Those are the only codes that I have, there are no Cat codes.

if there are no cat codes then they must have been set to "non reporting" (someone correct me if im wrong please as I cant remember off hand for sure) and therefore would not run a check...

Hmmm...Im thinking Im gonna have to take this to Tengis and have him look at the tune. Its just sooooo frustrating, cuz the car runs great.

Since you're only allowed one, you can enable cat codes OR try the WB EGR thing.

GM cat was triangular in shape IIRC, so that might help in identification, but that doesnt matter. It only matters if it will pass the P0420.

Since the EGR isn't there, if you want it to show "ready" you'll have to hook a wideband up and hook the WB output to the EGR position wire. Having done that, my PCM is convinced my EGR is still operational even with all of the codes disabled.

Really?! So if you connect your code reader it shows the EGR ready?? If so, Im definitely jumping on that! Im so tired of dealing with this. I freaking love this car, and I dont really want to buy another car that I only drive one day a week.

I set all my emissions codes to no reporting and all my tests were ready as soon as I loaded the tune. The egr enable temp also has to set to 284 or whatever the max is.

Really....so you think I should purchase a tuner just for this, or just take it to Tengis and have him do it?
