Is it possible to swap a 98 and newer pcm into a car using a 97.5 style pcm that has the knock module integrated in it?

Not sure about the regal. But many people have done a swap from 97 style GTP to 98 style GTP. So assuming that the 97.5 regal PCM is similar to the 97 GTP PCM, then yes, it can be done.

But like I said, I cannot say for sure. There are a couple threads on the other forum that I have bookmarked and might help you. Or check out this page that has the harness swap for GTPs info on it.

thanks..I'll have to look more into it. You really have to change the harness hu? Can't repin the connector on the original Plug?

No, I don't think so. Again, I have never done this, but I believe you just have to use the connectors from a 98+ harness, pull all the pins from your 97 connectors, and push them into the 98+ connectors, and then use a 98+ PCM. Again, not 100% sure, but I have some links to the other forum...but didn't know if I should put them up or not...

I think the pinout information would be great info. And since nobody wants any forum fights, and this is PCM related, you could post it on the tuner notebook site as links for now and maybe we could integrate it into the tuner notebook.

    Just a thought.

First, visit Main Page - OpenTuner Notebook and register/log in.

Then visit View source - OpenTuner Notebook and start posting away!!

You aren't alone....I am still learning.

If you need help, just search the help on the site. It is actually pretty easy once you do a few links.

And don't worry too much about doing it wrong, others can correct it for you.

Why are you trying to swap it?? Just curious. I know back in the day the 97 was a bastard child but in todays age and the tools we have, it shouldnt be a problem. Im gonna be running my 97 PCM. I even bought a spare one just in case the one I have now fries.
