I am asking for the opinion of my gpf piers because i know i will get put in the right direction so........if you had to have your pcm re-tuned so you could do a ported and polished tb who would you use?,mind you as it stands i have a zzp tuned pcm but zoomer is really starting to push me towards other vendors as well as making me wanna just buy a completely different pcm and call it quits on zzp for good,so if you have any suggestions let me know cause i really wanna get this done before winter fully sets in.

Having been there with the canned tunes and now owning HPTuners myself I must say that I strongly recommend you find a reputable tuner with HP or similar. A canned tune will never be right. Every car is different, even with the same mods.

    2001 Formula M6 : Shhhh
2001 SSEi : New DD, Bone Stock for now

A stock tune with a stock maf sensor always right... The canned tunes work pretty darn well as all they are going to fix things that suck (trans, some PE crap, idle, codes, sometimes injectors, whatever else), and leave your fueling stock (aka right).

The TRUTH is the fact that no 2 ported throttle bodies are the same, and you NEED a custom tune with those... Zoom wont support a custom throttle body tune because he knows it just wont work. A stock tune will not work with a custom maf setup.

I will custom tune a maf in the Flint area if needed.

I bought the tb from neOhio25,and he said he wasnt sure if it would work or not cause my car is an 01 and the tb is from a 98 so I asked zoom was there any difference and he said yes and no,his main suggestion was to retune the pcm for the maf cause he said that is what the diff is......so ......I asked how much for a retune and what exactly would be added to the already tuned pcm and he seems to have got upset, now I don't know about anyone else but I don't know everything about the parts I need for my car or that I wanna add so Thas why I ask questions just to gain some more knowledge about my modification list and where I wanna stop as well as how much my gains will be,this is also why I joined GPF cause most if not all of you have modded further than me which is why I stay here 24-7.

Dark are you saying it would be better or easier to custom tune the maf as oppose to the pcm?

I don't understand why he wouldn't put the magic touches on it when the tb came from him.

You cant tune a maf that you dont know anything about.

Just leave your maf stock anyway.... You are not going to find gobs of power worth the massive headache that is tuning a custom maf. The only time I touch custom maf tuning is on cars that are making more than 350whp on a m90 or over 450whp on a turbo.... Other than in those situations, stock is the best option.

Gotcha! So in your honest opinion is the tb worth adding or did I just waste money?

normally unless youre pretty far into modding (past valvetrain mods) a throttle body won't do much, if anything at all. you just dont need that much flow yet.

I see what you mean! that makes sense ......i guess I was just trying to get it outta the way and improve on the flow a little more,I guess I can wait on that then.
