I believe that you need to set the codes to non-reporting. I don't worry too much about it because I don't get a computer hooked to my car for inspection. But I believe that is what they should be set to.

Funny story, I recently took out the EGR because it was leaking and it was easier and cheaper to block it off. And I had just moved to a different county where they don't do emissions inspection (or so I thought). I talked to the mechanic later in the day and he told me my car didn't pass. I was like . He said it didn't pass emissions. Here I guess they do a visual emissions check, but I don't get an emissions sticker on it. Well, he was just messing around with me. I have known him for awhile and he knows that I know what I am doing with cars. So he passed it, but told me just don't sell it anytime soon. I said I won't and I will put the EGR back on for inspection next time. He said it doesn't really have to be hooked up or anything, he just needs to see the EGR is there. So next year, I will just bolt the EGR back in place without any tubes and then all will be good.

You need to turn off, the enabled too for the corresponding code. Not all the codes have a enabled or disabled option tho. When I took my car to the GM dealer I bought it at, I didn't have an EGR they didn't say anything lucky I guess. They like my car tho. Especailly because it's top swapped. I had my powrtuner in my back seat at the time cover up by my coat. The guy said "did you reburn your computer" I was like "maybe..." he was like "yeah that's cool." lol.

PA only looks for a Cat. I've passed 3 years now with no EGR and the last time I passed without an EVAP. I've gone to 2 different shops and passed both times. If you have any SES lights, turn them off by changing the DTC to "No Reporting" which is a number 3.
One of the First: 2008 Liquid Red Pontiac G8 GT (hers)
-Intake, Tune, Magnaflow Exhaust, 40% tint.
    -Next: Rims, lowered?, headers?

One of the Last: 2009.5 Stryker Blue Metallic Pontiac G8 GXP M6 (mine)
    -Intake, Magnaflow Exhaust, 25% tint.
    -Next: Headers and tune.

    Dave,

This isn't correct from what I was told...at least in my county. I was told by the inspection mechanic that they do a visual emissions check. This means they look to make sure all emissions equiptment that is supposed to be on the car is still there. This includes cat, O2 sensors, EGR, Evap, Air pump, air lines, charcoal canister, etc. But.... I don't get hooked up to a computer. So maybe if they hook your car up to a computer, then they don't do a visual check. I don't know.
