I have read alot of poor reviews on there pcm. I recently purchased and installed there pcm a few days ago. So far... I have had no issues and have been really pleased with the results. Are they just hit and miss?

I have/had a ZZP PCM and I dont think its so much a hit or miss issue as it is the tuning they do is not very specific to the car and its mods. The good news though is that they are open PCM's which means if you ever get a tuner, you'll be able to reprogram them.

Overkill PCM seem to have a much better reputation but they are locked to protect his investment in the tuning, but are tuned specifically to your car and its mods.

One of the reasons I was unhappy with mine is that their programming causes slipping and banging into gear on 04+ 4T65Es and they have yet to correct it. Also I don't like them removing torque management. It's there for a reason. Make your tranny shift quicker so torque management isn't there as long. I have an Intense shift kit here waiting to be installed for that purpose.

    I just got a tuner.

First off welcome! Overkill is one of the better pcm's out there, but if you do want to use a HPtuner or have it dyno tuned, id look @ one from Intense. Will locks his to keep his tuning secrets a secret lol and I dont blame him. ZZP makes some really good exhaust parts but ive hread less than good things about there pcm's.

INTENSE-Racing.com: INTENSEâ„¢ Reprogrammed 3800 Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

I just put my Intense pcm in tonight and im very impressed. I love the skip shift and the 6000 rpm shifts. Scott does a great job with his products.

The skip shift aspect of these PCMs concerns me, exactly how many more revs is the engine jumping when it skips down 2 gears? It seems like a lot of fun but what about the longevity of the engine and transmission. Does it happen at only WOT? Thanks

well, when i'm cruising at about 60 - 65 i'm at like 2300 rpms. when i hit the gas to go almost WOT and it kicks into third, it's probably around 3000. when it goes to second it's a little higher but i don't think it's quite 4000. this isn't anything scientific, it's just my experience with the stock pcm, and i'm still running it. i'm sure somebody will get on and give you something a little more specific as it's probably completely different and i have no idea what i'm talking about. but i do know that a lot of people on the forum have these pcm's and i haven't heard nearly as many bad things as zzp

thanks, from what I've read I'm definitely leaning towards an Overkill or Intense PCM.
