My cousin has an HPTuner for 96-up GM OBD-II and he and I are going to start doing some tuning on my 2001 Grand Prix GTP tomorrow, he knows how to do pretty much everything as he has tuned his 02 Camaro Z28, but he doesn't know much about the automatic transmission stuff. so my question is what are the best possible "safe" shift points that I should use? I haven't done anything to the transmission or anything like that I have 40 series flowmasters, u-bend delete, res replaced with a 22" glasspack, cold air intake, Bosh platinum +4 plugs and thats about it. thanks for any and all advice.

    Stock transmission shift points.

Change the desired shift time to .006 for performance or normal (wich ever you perfer) (assuming you have performance shift)

And you can mess with the FT shift speed tables a little to get the car to perform a little better when it down shifts at WOT.

Whatever shift points you decide on, program them in a few hundred RPM below. That's because there's a slight delay from hitting the shift point to the transmission finally completing the shift.

ok. thanks for that info guys. We created my bin today, and did a scan everything went well I had a little KR like 5 @ WOT, but nothing serious we didnt have time to change many settings cuz i had to go to work. im going by jerry's tuning notebook, and he says to leave the torque management settings stock or to use the DHP V.1.5 settings. does anybody have these settings?

If you don't have a DHP tuner, you're not going to get someone to give you settings out of the DHP file. Kinda like breaking the covenant, you know?

Just change the TM settings to 256. That's about half way from where there at now. You'll be needing a new transmission soon if you've got much done to you're car.

I haven't removed any TM from my car (except anything that shuts off injectors) and on shifts it pulls like a bat out of hell. All you need is a shift kit and your tranny will be safer (TM can still work properly) while you're faster (less time the PCM pulls timing since the tranny shifts faster).
