    Hi all,

I was adjusting the tune on my 07 GT and what I did was just copy and paste all the information from my 2004 GTP with an overkill base. Is this ok to do? The two computers had the same exact layout and fields. The only thing I didn't transfer was the Maf settings and the section you adjust for knock at because these should be adjusted for that specific setup. I didn't change the Gear ratio for the 3.29 yet because I dont see the required fields for it, also didn't adjust knock decay because it will not take the change. I am running the newest version of HPT.

Technically it should be fine. If you didn't change the transmission itself you will not want to change the gear ratio. Your GT's gear ratio is 2.93's.

Also if you did need to change it, you use the gear tire wizard under the edit tab to modifiy the gear ratio. I've commented on a few threads with links to how it work as it's not done how you think it's done.

Just be aware that not every vehicle will accept the changes you made, it not like the fuel/timing settings you made so tweaking the tune is likely needed.

Thanks for the help 5FDP. the new TEP transmission has 3.29 gears. I transferred every thing before I adjusted the gear ratio so I have to go back to the original read and adjust the gear ratio and then transfer back all of the tuned 04 perimeters to the 07 :/ . Since I really have no clue what to adjust I figured using the 04 overkill tune as a base would get me close to where it needs to be. I think I'm confusing myself. When I adjusted the gear ratio on the 07 stock 2.93 to 3.29 and compared it to the stock 3.29 on the 04 comp g the readings are different. I thought it would be the same?? maybe the 07 has a different reluctor wheel or something that the wizard compensates for? Time for bed! LOL

I have a tuning book and have been reading up but I'm still lost. I'm more of a hands on learn it in person.

It's ok to start with but the maf and timing tables should be tuned to your vehicle.

I did the same, start with and overkill tune for someone else but found some of it to be too aggressive for my liking and changed some things. For example I have a stock trans so I left most of the setting stock. Then tweaked a few trans setting after reading up on transmission tunes on a hptunetuners forum, there's wasn't much to do on the trans settings.

I transferred everything except the MAF and Timing, I will adjust those once I get through this old tank of gas. To adjust the Transmission gear ratio what I did was start with the stock read then went into the gear and tire wizard and input 3.67 per Dave. I then transferred all the other stuff over. worked like a charm. I need to dial down the trans setting a bit so I will have to visit HPT forums to see what works.

My fuel trims are still all over the place. I tried spraying around the vacuum tubing, intake, plugged egr port, purge solenoid and everywhere else I could think of under the hood and no change. I swapped MAF sensors and it read the same. I'm thinking it may be something with the EGR delete or maybe evap canister? The car runs fine. Any suggestions?

All over the place like what?

    That really doesn't help here.

    Constantly positive or constantly negative?

Have you even attempted to re-tune the MAF curve to dial the trims back in?

Sorry about the lack of information. -20 to +20 and everything in between. No rhyme or reason to the fluctuations. Yes, I have tried adjusting the MAF curve. I reset it back to stock and started again and the same issue.

Seems more like a o2 sensor problem then, if a different MAF cause the same results and you have no known vacuum leaks.

There were also some fuel adders/removers that you changed too when copied everything over. This is why you should start stock. I also had an easier time with getting my trims in line after I did a VE tune. VE tune isn’t a necessity but it helped me.

Yeah I probably messed with something I shouldn't have. I basically changed everything over that was different between the two tunes. I'm getting close on the trims. they aren't as sporadic as they were. Right now STFT+LTFT is around 8-9%. I made another adjustment and I will scan again on the way home from work to see where I'm at. I have not registered Knock on any of my scans so that is a plus.

I do not have a wideband so unfortunately VE tune is not an option right now.

I don’t have a wideband installed either. You don’t go WOT when doing the VE tune.

When you reset the fuel trims it takes a while for the pcm to relearn them.

Try to take a day and do the tuning. Temperature changes where I am are different all the time so my trims sometimes are super rich for a little while then it evens out but would make tuning a pain. It was much easier to get it done in one day, then make small changes here and there

Ok I will look into the VE tune. I spent a few hours today doing some trim tuning. It was in the 90s here for a while. and 60s today so I took advantage of the actual regular temps to do the adjustments. The average trims stay about -1/0 but when I look at he highs and lows there are some -16 and +16s +/-. I am going to stick with where it is for now trim wise. I can't find any vacuum leaks to explain the highs and lows. I used propane around everything vacuum wise in the engine bay :/

The knock is still all at 0. so I will maybe look into adding some timing. My photobucket plugin for chrome isn't working right now so I can not see the screen shots in the starting HP tuners section. I will try tomorrow.

edit: I just did control+shift+r to do a hard reload and the pics are back

Does anyone pay attention to the STFT?

stft should be 0 or close to it at idle and 0 wot. other then that, its all over the place.

Does anyone change the fuel enrichment from stock? I transferred it over from my other tune and was just wondering. The LTFT usually stays around -2/+2 but it will spike occasionally to a higher positive number. overall I would say it is good. No knock registered at all on any of my scans. I'm a bit weary of adding timing just because I'm not exactly sure how to do it.

You're asking about the Base AFT vs ECT table right?

If so, yes that is where you'd want to change the commanded AFR under WOT. There are kind of two ways you can do it, either change the number there and leave the add vs rpm table alone or zero out the add vs rpm table completely and set the Base AFR vs ECT as your target afr of say 11.5.

You could also just slowly remove fuel via the add vs rpm table too, as that number is just subtracted from the base AFR over rpm and time.

Timing is easy to add for anywhere and full throttle. Look at the table and the top axis where is says cylinder airmass. Pretty much anything over .68 is going to be WOT as that is where the timing really starts to dip downward. I normally made the last two rows the same number past 1,400-1,600 rpm. Just be aware that you have a spark correction table to think about too if you still have it active. If you click the base afr correction table it will add the current timing depending on commanded AFR. It could add anywhere from like 3-7 degrees of timing. So if you had 12 in the high octane table and 4 at 11.7 afr you'd command a total of 16.

I noticed on the newest version of HPT or it may just be an additional table for the 07. There is a max torque timing above the high and low octane timing. Do I still just add to High octane timing or use the max torque table? I’ve been comparing tunes and looking at forums. Most of the data I find is for the 03 down cars. Not many for the 07 / 04+ to compare to.

Thanks 5FDP! I appreciate your help.

I was going to follow Will's way of just pulley down. But I want to try and adjust the timing with HPT first
