Hey guys I am in need of direction. This weekend I worked on a 05 Cavalier with fuel issues. I checked pump relay it was working and concluded the pump was not kicking on. Dropped the tank and replaced with a Delphi Unit. Also changed the fuel filter. The old filter was full of black sh*t . It was by far the nastiest fuel filter I have ever seen. Nothing but black slime coming out. Assuming the bad filter caused the pump to fail. On initial fire up car ran a bit rough and finally idled fine for a small amount of time. At this point I threw in a can of sea foam after seeing that filter. Who knows if that filter was stopping anything. The car is now misfiring horribly and has severe lifter chatter. Checked the oil it was significantly low added appropriately and still chattering. I pulled the codes and came up with P0300 - Random Cylinder Misfire and P0171 - System to lean - Bank 1 . Now I would assume the lean condition is from gummed up or clogged fuel lines or possibly just bad gas. So I started by pulling each plug individually all looked good - were just replaced 3 months ago. They smelled extremely of gasoline and seemed to be wet with gas as well. I suppose the a faulty ignition coil could cause this but what are the odds of this happening at the same time as a fp. Probably slim to none. Just in need of some help and to see what other may or may not have experienced with this vehicle

Thanks
