My little Chevrolet Sonic 1.4L Turbo 6-speed would get 40mpg all day. Took if from FL to TN all interstate and averaged 44mpg.

Tons of fun to drive, stupidly slow, handles really well, rides pretty damn good too.

My dad has the 6 speed dart 1.4 multi air turbo car gets like 33 combined geared a tiny bit better for city than highway still will see like 35 highway but 33 is a constant number. It pulls hard for having such a small turbo and they are already making aftermarket performance parts. I orders him an Injen intake for Xmas so he can hear his turbo and blow off
Valve. They sound amazing with resonators removed have decent room I'm 6'3" and have a little issue fitting in the back seat fronts I'm fine. And if can drive it. It's a really great car I would trade my gp for one in a heart beat. It handles like its on rails but also ride better than any 4 door car I've ever been in

I guess it's hard to define American built now day's. Basically i just don't want a steaming pile of crap car that handles and rides like crap like Civic's Corrola's Aveo's, ect.

I haven't driven the newer versions of those but I would still stick to GM, Ford, or some Chrysler products. (That are not outsource built)

I know some toyota's are built in their US plant but I personally will never consider a toyota an american car. The people who own it are foreign therefore most the profits are going overseas.

Even when buying a used car I would still rather buy an american car than a foreign one. They usually ride much better, parts are cheaper in my experiences, and parts last longer on them.

A lot of Subaru's are built in the states as well. There's no such thing as a car that's built without some outsourcing nowadays.

except you won't get north of 35ish MAX with a subaru, especially with a turbo model (18-24).

i get ~26mpg consistantly running a mix of highway and city, but if i fill it up and hop on the freeway until it's empty i'll get something like 32-33mpg.

I think some of you guys read far too much motor trend. Stick w/the big 3, keep the majority of the money here in the states. I'm pretty sure the F150 is actually the most american made vehicle anyways.

Civic's are built here in Alliston, Ontario. Good enough car for my newlywed wife to drive and keeps me employed.

Why not get a gtp? They can get pretty good gas mileage for what they are. I've seen friends getting between 33-35 with just a tune

    Canadian.
Canada is the same as America for the most part. No real border and the people/products/money flow ball and forth constantly. The Camaro is an American dream for the working man. As is the corvette.

And, 426hp that gets 28 mpg on the interstate isn't bad. Around town it only gets 12-14 though, but I'd never complain. The car is worth the price of fuel.

Anyways, continue along, I was just showing off my photo that I like so much. That sunset picture makes the Bumblebee glow.

Will a GT or a GTP get better gas mileage? I know the GTP had the higher geared trans but if put an HD trans and N/A motor together would it be possible to pull numbers even higher than 35? I need to replace thre tranny in my 01 anyways cuz 4th gear is gone so right now I can only pull about 26 mpg's highway with the engine screaming 3400 rpm @ 70 mph. lol.....I usually drive 55 like a grandma i'm pretty sure sustaining that RPM for long periods isn't such a good idea.
